Friday the 13th: perfect day to adopt a black cat

Friday, December 13, 2013   by: SooToday.com Staff
As it is Friday the 13th superstitions are high, and one of the most common superstitions is black cats being associated with bad luck. As a result, people tend to avoid black cats when deciding to adopt. If you are looking for a furry friend, go against superstition and adopt a black cat today.

The full text of a news release for The Animal Assistance Group (T.A.A.G) is as follows:

*************************
T.A.A.G. is having a black cat adopt-a-thon.

We are trying to find forever homes for our beautiful black cats for the holidays.

Any fixed black cat that is adopted between now and January 1 will have their adoption fee waived in exchange for a donation of food, litter or money.

Black cats are less likely to be adopted because of superstitions which has led to our shelter being full of them right now.

Contact Cheryl (705) 575-7030 for more information.

As long as it's good people adopting them. There are a lot of weirdos who want black cats for "other things." I know some cities won't adopt any out the few weeks before Halloween because of some of the people who have bad intentions. That being said, black cats are really beautiful and I think if you aren't like me (guy with 2 crazy dogs), then you should definitely go get one of these feline friends!

I agree MikeQ - there are a lot of cruel people out there that purchase black cats for torturous events. But how can you tell what kind of person the adopter is?
I have a gorgeous black cat (rescued from abuse)who stays strictly indoors. He's beautiful to watch - like a miniature black panther!

Who are these people? What are their names?

In some cultures, the black cat is still revered and a symbol of good luck even today. The Scottish believe that a strange black cats arrival to the home signifies prosperity, while Pirates of the 19th century believed if a black cat walks towards you, its a sign of bad luck, but its good luck if it walks away from you. In the English Midlands, a black cat as a wedding present is thought to bring good luck to the bride!

Black cats are great! I would gladly adopt another if I didn't already have 3.

I am a volunteer for The Animal Assistance Group. I can assure you we have an extensive screening process to ensure our cats go to caring, loving homes. We don't just adopt them out to anyone. Let's hope that no one would abuse this offer with bad intentions!

Black cats are beautiful and have nothing to do with what certain people with superstitions have made of them.
There is no difference as to what colour a cat is.
Cats of all colours are gorgeous and make wonderful pets as long as their owners use them with love and respect for the animal's needs.
Over the years, I've had cats of all colours and they have all been wonderful pets.

Any cat is good to adopt,Why you could adopt me for just a new set of goalie pads or a new snowmachine!!...LOL.
All joking aside, lets all support Karma.
