NEWS RELEASE

SAULT AREA HOSPITAL

**************************
Bringing families together during the holiday season

Sault Area Hospital (SAH) is pleased to announce that two local hotels are offering complimentary rooms to patient families in need this holiday season.

The Comfort Inn (333 Great Northern Road), will be offering their Angel Program and the Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront is offering a similar program, Home for the Holidays.

Both hotel properties are offering the rooms from December 20, 2013 to January 5, 2014 inclusive.

The complimentary rooms are for families and friends of those travelling through Sault Ste. Marie who unexpectedly have a medical emergency and find themselves in hospital during the Christmas season.

The holiday season is a time for celebrating with family.

For some, being away from a loved one can be very difficult.

It is the sincere intent of these programs that families are able to come together during this special time of the year.

SAH thanks the Comfort Inn and the Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront for their compassion and hospitality that is extended to hospital patients and their families.

This is truly a great gesture of kindness and generosity by these two wonderful establishments, especially at this time of year. Thanks so much to the Comfort Inn and the Delta Waterfront for this response to our out of town patients and their families. A very Merry Christmas to you and all your terrific staff.

Kudos to the Comfort Inn and the Delta Waterfront. More of our businesses should have the same kindness as you are both showing. Merry Christmas and the best in 2014.

Very very nice news for SSM & SAH this Christmas. The Spirit of Christmas is alive for those in need, yes, more of this would be awesome! Maybe a couple of restaurants could join forces & offer free meals for the same time period?

This should be offered to out of town families year round just not at Christmas. Why is it that people seem to be so generous at this time of the year and seem to forget the rest of the year.
Pakadeva 12/13/2013 9:31:33 AM Report

@Kirby, because hotels can't afford to lose that much business year round. I bet these hotels would give discount rates though, under those circumstances.
It's not for us to decide what generous hotel owners decide to do in the name of charity. I agree it would be nice year round, but, like everything else, people would take advantage.

I work at SAH. I know first hand that there are MANY hotels in the city especially on Great Northern that offer substantial discounts to families visiting sick family members from out of town; and in special cases they WILL give away rooms to families that are in circumstances that require the gift of a room ANY time of the year.

Perhaps before you crap all over good happy news you should do some research.
