Snow squall warning for Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island - Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Snow squall watch for Agawa - Lake Superior Park

Snow squalls continue.

Cold westerly winds over Lake Superior are generating heavy flurries and local snow squalls, affecting the area from around Montreal River southward to Sault Ste Marie.

The snow squalls are forecast to shift north of Sault Ste Marie tonight, to affect areas north of Batchawana Bay toward Lake Superior Park.

Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm per 12 hours are possible under the heaviest snow bands.

In addition, low to nil visibilities in snow and blowing snow will result in hazardous driving conditions.

The snow squalls are expected to persist through Thursday night, although small changes in wind direction will tend to shift their orientation and the areas affected during that time.
