Collision on Trunk Road at South Market

Trunk Road at South Market was the scene of a two-car collision at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A Chevy minivan sustained minor damage to the driver-side front end, while a Nissan car appeared to take a good deal of rear-end damage.

The rear bumper was torn off completely.

Neither driver appeared to require medical assistance at the scene.

Cause of the collision is unknown at this time, but we remind you to please take extra care while driving in icy conditions.

The cause was more likely because 1 out of to 2 involved were to much in a hurry to go nowhere. I have been seeing a lot of this lately.

Being the daughter-in-law of the gentleman driving the Nissan I can tell you that medical treatment was required for my father-in-law and that the woman driving the van was speeding and ran the red light hitting him and taking off the back end of his car. Completely her fault.

While it is unfortunate that your father-in-law required medical attention, this was not a high speed collision and no charges were laid.

if the woman did indeed run the red light then she is a typical driver in sault ste. marie. It's easier to say than do but we really have to have eyes everywhere when approaching an intersection. In the end I guess we are at the mercy of the run the red light idiots. :(
