MrBusDriver 12/11/2013 9:54:16 AM Report

I'm a school bus driver, and I consider myself to be a damn good driver thanks to the training I received here and at another location, but today, that's pushing the limits of my abilities. <<note>> opinions, comments, thoughts posted are my own and do not nessesarily reflect those of my co-workers, management, company I work for, or any of its affiliates

Great disclaimer there Mr Bus Driver, I do not think you could have included anyone else in that...LOL
redgypsy 12/11/2013 11:21:11 AM Report

i just do not think anyone should be out in weather such as this pushing the limits of everyones abilities to drive in insane weather conditions
i do appreciate the school bus drivers and all they do for our children
THANK YOU'S
for without them many would have no way to get their children to school
i just do not understand why it seems that no matter how bad the snowy weather gets the schools here in town seem to refuse calling a snow day
i mean come on we could not even see the school bus coming til it was near the driveway n had its lights flashing
all schools in town should have been canceled for the safety of the children and the people driving on our terrible roads

without the ice n snow we have accidents with this kind of weather
it is not a matter of it could happen it is a matter of when it will it happen
you know it will watch the news for the day
i will put money on a few accidents here in town due to the road conditions

IF they cancel they get more complaints from those who have no emergency babysitters.

Mallet, I got my wrist slapped for commenting on here as a bus driver before, that's why the disclaimer :)
Red gypsy, thank you for your comments. When the weather is bad, I drive MUCH slower... Today, I didn't get above 35kph. At all my stops, I look for my kidlets waiting inside - which happened at 4 of my stops. We are only responsible to be on time at our first stop... After that, we get there when we get there as long as we can do it safely,
Thank you again for saying its not the drivers fault we're out there. We listen to the radio the same as kids waiting for a snow day to be called. When there isn't one, the biggest, the only thing on our minds is getting our kids safely to school and safely home at the end of the day.
<<note>> my previous note still applies to this comment but I have tablet-finger so I'm not typing it again :)

it's tough with any children under the age of 12 staying home but parents need to prepare for this. We knew the snow was coming.
