So, who's up for a run in the snow?

Friday, December 06, 2013   by: Staff

Up for a run in the snow

Jade Wellness would like to announce its first annual Jingle Bell 5k Fun Run and Walk for the soup kitchen.

The run starts tomorrow, Saturday December 7 at 10:30 a.m., and is a 5 km run, walk or jingle along the hub trail.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Jade Wellness Studio, 677 Queen St east.

Each of the participants is asked to make a $5 donation towards the soup kitchen, and will be entered in a draw to win a number of prizes from the race sponsors including: Jade Wellness Studio, Metro, Country Way, Case's Music, Shabby Motley, and Algoma Bicycle Co.

Furthermore, Union Jack Brewing Co. has just announced that they will add an additional $5 donation for each participant.

"We're hoping to have a big turnout tomorrow for such a worthy cause," said Shriling Kao, director of Jade Wellness Studio. "We think it's going to be a lot of fun and we feel blessed that Angela and Crista were so determined to put this event on.

The idea for the run came out of the Jade Wellness running clinic that met weekly at the studio.

Angela Sauve and Crista Wardell, the running coaches and the run organizers felt they should have a 5K run at the end of the session to celebrate, and the Jingle Bell Fun Run was born.

"With a potential for 10-15cm of snow tomorrow, the run will be a little more interesting than we originally planned but I guess that's December in Sault Ste. Marie," said Angela. "There will be warm drinks and snacks along the course as well as at Jade Wellness for the runners so we expect the weather will only make things more fun."
