Unhappy PUC customer calls for picket today

SooToday.com has received the following letter from loyal reader Mark Brown who is highly critical of PUC President and Chief Executive Officer Dominic Parrella's response to brown water problems in the east end.

Dear CEO Parrella,

It is clear from your personal response on SooToday ( http://www.sootoday.com/content/news/details.asp?c=64680 ) to Skye Burke's children's brown bath water issues, and her reasonable customer service complaints, (http://www.sootoday.com/content/news/details.asp?c=64635 ) that you are comfortable not only with the PUC's chosen method of dealing with bacteria and lead in the Sault's drinking water, but also with your organization's poor customer service.

Wrong answer CEO Parrella.

According to you, CEO Parrella, the PUC's choice for treating our drinking and bathing water will eventually provide us with clear drinking water... IN A FEW YEARS, but it does not work for far too many of the PUC's customers now.

We Saultites are your customers, and we are literally sick and tired of waiting for you, and your Board of Directors, to treat us like human beings rather than a source of revenue.

Here is what you will do at the December 2, 2013 City Council meeting CEO Parrella:

1) Tell us Saultites when the PUC will be providing a 24/7/365, brown water/chlorine smelling/chlorine tasting, WaterQuality Hotline answered by a live human being within 20 seconds so we can get immediate answers to our water colour, taste, and smell problems,

2) Tell us Saultites how much of a rebate ($$$) you will be providing EACH TIME we have to flush our home watersystems to deal with the problems you introduced into our water with your preferred water treatment method two years ago, and how we can get those rebate monies,

3) Tell the Saultites who continue to live with the brown water and/or chlorine smelling/tasting water, ON A TOO FREQUENT BASIS, how they can get money ($$$) from the PUC for a water filtration system, and all the filters they need, to give them the clear drinking water you promised them they would "soon get" over two years ago.

You will do this to our satisfaction, CEO Parrella, or we will ask our PUC Board of Directors to remove you from your position and put someone else in who will do this to our satisfaction.

Your job is on the line here CEO Parrella.

And if you don't tell us what we want to hear at the December 2, 2013 City Council meeting, and our PUC Board of Directors does not remove you from your position, we will:

1) Initiate a Class Action law suit where our PUC Bill Payments will be held in Trust until the PUC provides us with what we expect, and

2) we will get our City Council to replace the current Board of Directors at the upcoming PUC Annual General Meeting with a Board of Directors who will replace you, CEO Parrella, with a CEO who will tell us what we want to hear.

And if, after all that, our City Council does not replace the current Board of Directors with one that will do what we want, then we will replace our City Council at the upcoming 2014 election with a City Council who will replace the current Board of Directors with a more customer focused Board of Directors who will replace you, CEO Parella, with a CEO who will tell us what we want to hear.

We will wait no more.

Do I make myself clear CEO Parella?

I urge my fellow Sault citizens to support our family, friends and neighbours who have been waiting far too patiently for the PUC to fix our water problems for the past two years by doing the following:

1) Picketing daily outside the front of the new PUC building on Second Line with your handmade signs starting today, Wednesday November 27, at 4:00 pm ... whenever you can spare a minute or two during your busy days, (please park in the Walmart, Staples or old Zellers parking lots and be sure to cross at the lights) and

2) Filling the City Council Chamber on Monday December 2nd, 2013 at 4:30 pm to show CEO Parrella how serious we are about this.

This is not a threat CEO Parrella, this is a promise.

Sincerely,

Mark Brown
