SAULT STE. MARIE - In honour of this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Algoma Family Services and the Algoma Council on Domestic Violence will be hosting an art exhibit and gala on November 21, 2013 at the Algoma University Downtown Residence.
The “End the Silence” exhibit will be on display from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., with the gala portion taking place at 6 p.m.
The exhibit features the work of women who have experienced domestic or family abuse.
Their art often symbolizes the journey they experience as they move from hurt to healing.
The gala will take place during the Downtown Association’s Moonlight Magic and will include refreshments, local speakers, and music.
Hot chocolate, coffee, and tea will also be served for those who wish to get warm.
The Freedom Sisters will also be attending and handing out light bulbs for a small donation fee as part of their “Shine the Light” Campaign.
