New executive director for the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District
SAULT STE. MARIE - The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District Board of Directors would like to announce that an executive director has been hired to replace outgoing Executive Director, Sandra Houston, who announced her retirement in July.
Lisa Vezeau-Allen commenced her official duties on Monday, October 28.
“We are excited as an organization to continue the hard work that Sandra has accomplished with the appointment of Ms. Vezeau-Allen," says Chris Rous, president of the Board.
Lisa is a Sault native who has long-standing arts connections, but also a varied career in the not-for-profit climate.
Lisa is a graduate of Laurentian University, (Algoma Campus) and has a post-graduate degree in Not-for-Profit Management from St. Clair College.
She has been involved in volunteering and board membership since a teen growing up in Sault Ste. Marie.
She left in 1991, and returned in December of 2006, and has been a valuable contributor to the community at large.
“The Arts Council is currently working on an extensive Strategic Plan and, as a board, we welcome working with Lisa to achieve those goals,” says Chris Rous. “We also want to acknowledge the Trillium Foundation’s support in financing our strategic planning process and our salary for this position.”
