Kaha:wi Dance coming to town: Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District's Over the Rainbow Opening
SAULT STE. MARIE - The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District presents its first show of the Over the Rainbow 2013-2014 season.
On October 26 at 2 p.m., Over the Rainbow presents Kaha:wi Dance Theatre at The Grand Theatre, 641 Queen Street East.
"We're excited to incorporate Iroquoian stories into our Over the Rainbow series and are thrilled to have this show as our first performance the season," says Sandra Houston, executive director for the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District. "The show includes many of the arts including music, dance, and storytelling and we really want children to be able to experience all these varieties."
Saturday is the last opportunity for families to be able to enjoy all five shows for the price of one Over the Rainbow Children's Entertainment passport: $60.
After this first show, passports can still be purchased, but will only admit one child and one adult to the four subsequent shows.
"We hope families come out on Saturday to see how great these shows are and keep coming out for the rest of the season and for years to come," says Houston. "Buying a passport makes the fantastic shows offered completely affordable."
Right now, passports are still available at The Grand Theatre at 1 p.m. before the show, at the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District's office at 104A-369 Queen Street East, Hilltribe in the Station Mall, the Box Office in the Station Mall, Kevanna Studios at 388 Wellington Street East, Once Upon A Child at 671 Great Northern Road, or on the website at www.artsforkids.ca/subscribe-and-save.php via Paypal.
Individual tickets are also available at the first performance for $15 per adult and $12 per child at the Grand Theatre at 1 p.m. on October 26.
"We have so many great shows this season," says Christine Campana, the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District's networking facilitator. "On top of this upcoming Iroquoian dance performance, there will be musical and magic performances and so much more."

About Over the Rainbow Children's Entertainment
The Over the Rainbow Children's Entertainment Series is a non-profit committee of the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canadian Heritage Foundation.
Their goal is to bring families together to foster a love of music, fun, and drama at affordable prices.
Performances range from magic and dance to international music and plays.
The executive committee is always looking for volunteers and corporate supporters, especially to sponsor workshops for local students while the performers are in town.
Founded in 1992, the series was resurrected by the Arts Council and committed volunteers in 2008, after a seven year hiatus.
