Over the last several weeks the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has received several theft complaints from residences while the home owners are home.
Residents should lock their doors especially if they are working in the back yard and cannot see the entrances to the home.
Do not leave your purse or wallet right by an unlocked door.
A thief can quickly enter and leave with your valuables before you are even aware.
Taking a few moments to crime proof your home will save you hours of replacing stolen documents.
If you have any information regarding these crimes, or any other crime, call Crime Stoppers at 705-942-7867 or 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), submit an e-tip from the Crime Stoppers’ website at www.saultcrimestoppers.com
or text keyword SSM with your tip to 274637. Text STOP to 274637 to cancel. Text HELP to 274637 for help.

Sad but true; you have to keep your doors locked even when your home. It's not being paranoid....just living in the real world. The shoes and play station could have been taken by jealous neighbors. These days you don't always know who's living next door. For that matter some parents don't even know their own kids and would even deny the truth when confronted by the police. The days of " The Walton's " Or going back to the fifties "Father knows best " we're just tv shows ; not reality shows.

I was thinking the same thing LOL. However I bet their was a car waiting a few houses up the street.
I always lock my front door when I work in the back yard for this very reason. Another reason is I don't feel like washing the walls and floor to clean up the blood after my 170lb and 120lb Great Danes rip someone apart..... Just saying....
