Johnathan Townsend appears in court today via video remandTuesday, October 08, 2013 by: Steffanie Petroni
Johnathan Townsend made an appearance in court via video remand today to address murder charges stemming from an incident on August 8 that left 42-year-old Corelli Bonhomme dead.
His matter has been put over to October 29, 2013 when he will appear via video remand once again.
Defence counsel, Jennifer Tremblay-Hall, has requested the matter to be put over to this time in order to review the Crown’s disclosure.
A non-judicial pre-trial could be scheduled on that date.
Townsend did not speak today though the Justice of the Peace addressed him as did counsel.
It did not appear to be an act of defiance.
On August 10, eighteen-year-old Johnathan Townsend was arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of 42-year-old Corellie Bonhomme.
Her body was discovered on August 8 in Johnathans’s apartment at 379 Lake Street.
Bonhomme was stabbed to death.
Investigators confirmed that an edged weapon was seized.
She was of no fixed address.
Townsend and Bonhomme were known to each other.
As a result of the ongoing investigation officers from Investigation Services met with the Kokomo Police Department in Indiana.
On September 16, 2013 a 12-year-old girl was arrested and charged with aiding, inducing or causing murder in relation to the homicide.
New information gathered through the ongoing investigation resulted in Townsend’s new charge of one count of First Degree Murder on September 25, 2013.
He appeared in bail court the next day to answer to the new charges.
At that time He appeared slightly dazed and spoke in a low, slow voice when responding to the Justice of the Peace.
The investigation has been ongoing since the arrest.
No further details about the investigation have been released at this time and there has been no further information about the victim in this murder.
