For the third year in a row Highrail Kennel and Farm at 544 Government Road in Echo Bay, Ontario is hosting a Canine Fun Day.
"My goal is to get dogs and owners out to the country to enjoy the day and possibly find a new hobby in dog sports even if just as a spectator," says Brenda Aelick, Canine Fun Day organizer and Highrail proprietor. "The games and contests are 'by donation' the only thing there is a charge for is the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) Canine Good Neighbor test , as it is a CKC event and open to purebreds and mixed breeds alike."
Events start with the Canine Good Neighbour test at 10 a.m. in the barn.
When testing is complete, at about 11 a.m., OPP Officer Kelly and his canine partner will demonstrate their skills and talk about the OPP canine program.
The DogInn It agility group will also be demonstrating their skills in dog agility work and offering an introduction to agility experience for anyone who would like to sample the sport of dog agility.
Other activities planned for the day include games such as bobbing for wieners and Frisbee toss games for the dogs and handlers as well as a Halloween dog costume contest.
"There will be lots of prizes, and refreshments are available," says Aelick. "Keep in mind this is a farm so dress accordingly."
