Michael Casselman bail review held overWednesday, September 25, 2013 by: Steffanie Petroni
Unexpectedly, todays bail review hearing for 54-year-old Michael Casselman has been held over until October 7.
On August 31, Casselman was arrested and charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle and exceeding the legal limit causing death.
However as a result of the ongoing investigation Casselman was later charged with one count of impaired driving causing the death of Christa Lukenda Michaud.
In addition to the transcripts and other court documentation from the original bail hearing, Superior Court Justice Ian MacMillan has requested further written argument to be filed by the defence, Bruce Wilson and the Assistant Crown Attorney, Dana Peterson.
The bail hearing is scheduled to resume on October 7.
Addressing a courtroom representative of primarily Mr. Casselman’s family, Justice MacMillan stated, “To those in attendance it’s unfortunate that the matter is not preceding today. But as you heard me say, on this important decision I want proper record before we move forward.”
Casselman did not appear in court today.
