Huron Shores remains under state of emergencyThursday, September 12, 2013 by: SooToday.com Staff
One Municipal road remains CLOSED: Ansonia Road from its intersection with Hopper Road to MacLean Road.
All other Municipal roads are now open to local traffic only.
In addition, the Municipality asks that individuals avoid using Ingram Road if at all possible as Public Works crews and heavy machinery are still repairing that road.
Please note that many roads are open to one lane of traffic only.
Travellers must use extreme caution, drive slowly and be alert for oncoming vehicles, traffic cones and barricades.
Through traffic MUST continue to utilize the detour around Highway 17.
Please DO NOT use GPS devices to attempt to navigate off the signed detour as many of the side roads do not accommodate highway vehicles.
Although the municipal roads are now passable (with the noted exception of the portions of Ansonia and Ingram Roads), road access may still be limited and any emergency services response could be delayed.
The Municipality of Huron Shores requests that residents exercise extra vigilance regarding fire safety; please ensure that you have an emergency escape plan and working smoke alarm.
