Information about school bus services this weekTuesday, September 10, 2013 by: SooToday.com Staff
With a state of emergency declared in several townships and numerous area road closures, the Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) are advising that, with the exception of St. Joseph Island (JK-6 only), school bus transportation for schools in Central Algoma will be cancelled for Wednesday September 11, 2013 and possibly longer.
Please continue to check for updates daily.
In Sault Ste. Marie, we are currently anticipating that buses will be running as usual on Wednesday.
However, both boards are urging parents to listen to local radio stations and go to board websites for up-to-date information. Transportation needs and changes will be reviewed daily and any updates will be posted on websites:
All schools will remain open.
However, please be reminded that schools are open for those who are able to get there safely.
We do not want parents to take risks and ask that parents and pedestrians respect the signage and barriers indicating road closures and potential danger.
With safety concerns at the forefront, these decisions are being made after consultation with city and township officials and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The Huron-Superior and Algoma District School Boards urge all parents and community members to remind children not to play in or near any flooded areas.
Our thoughts are with all community members including staff, students and parents throughout the district who have been affected by the extreme rainfall and dangerous and damaging flooding.
