Mother, son survive terrifying Goulais flood incident (photos)Tuesday, September 10, 2013 by: SooToday.com Staff
Loyal reader Russ Hilderley sent us these dramatic photos of a frightening flood incident that occurred on the Goulais Mission Road early this morning.
A former longtime radio newsman and broadcast executive in the Sault, Hilderley provided this additional information: "Approximately one mile from the Village at the end of the Mission Road....the mother was driving her son to work ......and en route to the city at approx. 4 a.m......the vehicle plunged some 20 feet to the rushing creek below. Mrs. Boyer and her son Jacob suffered injuries in the plunge, and in spite of those injuries, managed to scramble out of the partially submerged vehicle, through the torrent of rushing water, and on to the bank....crawling to stable ground.....then to a nearby residence for help."
