SAULT COMMUNITY CAREER CENTRE
SAULT STE. MARIE (September 3, 2013) - The Sault Community Career Centre and Sault College Employment Solutions are pleased to advise that they are now accepting preliminary inquiries from local youth and employers who may wish to access the new Employment Ontario Youth Employment Fund that was recently announced by the Government of Ontario.
This program has been designed to assist youth aged 15 to 29 in obtaining essential career-related employment experience.
Youth are generally unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week when accessing this program; however, some exceptions can be made for youth who are significantly under-employed.
The program targets good paying jobs that will significantly enhance the experience of youth on their road to full-time employment.
While the formal program rollout is slated to begin in mid-September, both Employment Ontario Employment Service delivery sites (Sault College Employment Solutions and the Sault Community Career Centre) will begin accepting general inquiries from both employers and youth immediately.
This will allow both providers to begin delivery in anticipation of the September 23 start date.
“In the current labour market it is often difficult for youth to land a position that will open doors to obtain experience and build credibility with employers and this experiential program will provide youth with that opportunity and provide employers with much needed financial assistance to encourage training,” says Sault College Employment Solutions Director Linda Ryan. ”As a new program with additional supports and funding, we will be able to stretch the existing dollars of our Employment Ontario Employment Services to better serve all job seekers and employers in our community.”
“We believe that this significant commitment to our youth is a solid investment in the future of our community,” said Sault Community Career Centre Executive Director Karol Rains. ”This fund will support our current work with youth and the businesses that employ them.”
Individuals interested in accessing this program can call either of the service delivery sites at: Sault Community Career Centre (705-759-0909) or Sault College Employment Solutions (705-945-0705).
