CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY
New caregiver peer support group
SAULT STE. MARIE (August 19, 2013) - The Canadian Cancer Society is pleased to present a new Peer Support Group for Caregivers.
A caregiver can be a mother, father, husband, wife, aunt, uncle, friend etc.
If you have cared for someone who has or is facing cancer then you’re a caregiver!
This free eight-week program will help you:
• Better handle the emotional, physical and social aspects of caring for someone with cancer
• Work more effectively with the health-care team
• Learn to balance being a caregiver while maintaining your need for self-care
• Continue to set personal goals and partake in activities that bring you enjoyment.
This is a free support group for anyone 18 years of age or older that is or has been a caregiver to someone with cancer.
The program will run every second Wednesday for eight weeks, starting September 11, 2013, going from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Canadian Cancer Society office, located at 390 McNabb St. Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
The program is completely free!
Registration is required.
Space is limited.
