Orazietti announces $195,945 for launch of businesses for eight young entrepreneurs in Sault Ste. Marie

NOHFC funding strengthens Sault Ste. Marie’s economy, helps retain youth

SAULT STE. MARIE - The province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is continuing to support small business creation in Sault Ste. Marie through targeted investments, such as today’s announcement of $195,945 to help eight local young entrepreneurs start their companies, David Orazietti MPP, announced today.

“The provincial government’s NOHFC program is investing in local businesses because we recognize the importance of assisting young entrepreneurs,” said Orazietti. “By helping young people start a business through this specialized program, we are strengthening the local economy, helping to retain youth in our community and creating new jobs.”

With funding from the provincial government’s NOHFC’s Young Entrepreneur Program these local entrepreneurs are helping to grow the regional economy:

  • $20,945 CC Communications
  • $25,000 Labelle Aerospace and Composite Services
  • $25,000 Algoma Instrument Repair
  • $25,000 Armstrong Listening Labs Inc.
  • $25,000 Staite Builders
  • $25,000 ENVISION Strategy and Design
  • $25,000 Surge Web Solutions
  • $25,000 SOLUTIONS

"I am extremely honoured to have had the opportunity to apply for the Northern Ontario Young Entrepreneur Grant, let alone to have become a recipient. The existence of this grant has enabled me to take an idea and put it into action, making a dream come into reality,” said Connie Carello, owner CC Communications. “This opportunity has allowed me to recognize my potential as a young individual offering my skill set in communications to other business owners, community members, and residents in my own home town."

Ontario is investing in these projects through the NOHFC’s Young Entrepreneur Program which support the start-up of businesses in the North.

NOHFC has invested over $1 million to support 49 young entrepreneur projects creating over 60 jobs in Sault Ste. Marie.

Backgrounder

$20,945 - CC Communications will assist business owners and individuals in the development and management of their social media applications. Services will include editing, copywriting, branding and marketing with specialization in the development of social media applications, website content development and composition of electronic newsletters. $25,000 - Labelle Aerospace and Composite Services will provide services to airlines, companies with aircraft and private aircraft owners offering interior modifications, repair and general maintenance. (Marcus Labelle, Owner)

$25,000 - Algoma Instrument Repair is a brass and woodwind instrument retail and repair store. (Jacob Rendell, Owner)

$25,000 - Armstrong Listening Labs Inc. is a resource hub for hearing impaired individuals offering full audiological hearing assessments, hearing aid evaluations and counselling. (Matthew Armstrong, President)

$25,000 - Staite Builders will create a network of clients that includes new and/or existing home or business owners who require new construction and/or retrofits. (Evan Staite, Owner)

$25,000 - ENVISION Strategy and Design, a graphic design studio with a main focus on providing professionally engaging graphic design and printing services in addition to offering an optional consultant service. (Nicholas Gordon and Stephanie Floyd, Owners)

$25,000 - Surge Web Solutions will focus on local small businesses providing initial website implementation services segmented into basic, intermediate and large categories of varying sizes. (Andrew Beaulieu, Owner)

$25,000 - SOLUTIONS, will provide strategic business planning services as it relates to research and development initiatives, business proposal development and submission. (Nicole Gareau, Owner)
