GOLF CLUB

Jamie Henderson named general manager of Silver Creek Golf Club

GARDEN RIVER - Silver Creek Golf Club has named Jamie Henderson of Sault Ste. Marie as their new general manager and PGA of Canada Professional effective April 19, 2013.

Henderson brings a plethora of golf management experience with him to Silver Creek having spent a big part of his career at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario, widely considered one of the busiest and most successful public golf operations in Canada and host of two RBC Canadian Opens.

Henderson has most recently worked as the Head Professional at Crimson Ridge Golf Club from 2007 - 2012.

“I’m thrilled for this new chapter in my professional career here at Silver Creek Golf Club,” said Henderson, a graduate of the Humber College Professional Golf Management Program. “Silver Creek is a fantastic championship public golf course that’s fun to play and we plan on making sure golfers in the area come and experience it this summer.”

Silver Creek Golf Club is located in Garden River, five minutes from Sault Ste Marie on highway 17 East.

The club is entering the fourth year of operation and has set May 17 as a tentative opening day.

The Arthur Hills designed club is one of 180 courses built in North America, Europe and Asia by the Hills team.

Henderson’s main responsibilities at Silver Creek will be to develop the business model for the club, grow the game of golf locally and lead the team of staff to ensure the needs of golfers and membership are exceeded.

Jamie Henderson can be reached at 705-942-2080 ext. 202 or jhenderson@golfsilvercreek.com and has already started at Silver Creek Golf Club.

Another course he can drive business away from by ignoring the customers, showing up late or not at all, using inappropriate and unprofessional ways to deal with both customers and staff. Way to go Silver Creek at picking a real winner.

I tend to agree with Cool 1. I was one of a big majority who was pleased when the new owner, Peter Tarvudd, did not keep Jamie on. While he may have worked under some trying circumstances given the bankruptcy trustee's oversight, it was no excuse for his immature behaviour, lack of leadership and perceived blatant favouritism to his hockey playing drinking buddies. I do however, wish him well in his new position. Hopefully a leopard can change its spots. He needs to prove himself anew by creating a team of service minded employees, lead by example and make people feel welcome of which all were lacking on his watch at Crimson.

WOW! I can't believe how some people can be so quick to judge other people in the social media setting! My Mother always told me if you didn't have something nice to say, don't say anything. The Jamie I know is a kind, generous and big hearted young man, who really does care about other people before thinking of himself. Congrats on the new journey....you will be fabulous!

To all the crybabies at crimson ridge, I am also a member and have been for over 7 years. Jamie Henderson was the best leader they ever had. He knew how to take care of the members, those that complain can never be pleased. Expectations were unreasonable. Do you think it was better last year after Henderson left. Give your head a shake. If you personally don't like someone then that is your prerogative but in terms of running the place with no budget and no cooperation from the receiver Jamie did an outstanding job. Good luck in your new position, garden river is lucky to have you.
