The devastating loss of beloved dog Buddy (photo)

On Thursday, April 4, my best friend was run over by a van. 

He was a beautiful Standard Poodle, only four years-old. 

If he had run out onto the street, I could accept this as an accident. 

He was on a 4.5-foot lead. 

My friend was taking Buddy for a walk, going East along Albert St. 

On a green light, they began to cross Dennis St., when a red van with silver trim made a left turn onto Dennis St. knocking down my dog and running him over. 

The driver didn’t stop, only sped up. 

My dog got up and howled with pain, my friend screaming for help. 

My dog, in shock, got up and ran the two blocks to our home on Abbott St. 

After taking Buddy to emergency, my boy passed away on Friday, April 5. 

The police told me I didn’t have enough information so they couldn’t help me. 

I can’t help but think that if this had been my friend, and not a dog, that van would have been found by now.

To the person who took Buddy’s innocent life, maybe you were on your cell phone, or under the influence or possibly just heartless, not to stop and help. 

You had to have heard the screaming and Buddy’s cries. 

You took the life of my best friend, and my friend has had nightmares since this happened. 

You shouldn’t get away with this.

To the people who witnessed this horrific scene, please, please have the heart to come forward with any information to help me find this van, so justice can be served to my boy Buddy.
