Major business matchmaking event coming to Sault Ste. Marie

Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (April 3, 2013) – Area companies will have a unique opportunity to expand this fall by partnering with firms from around the globe.

From Oct. 28 to 30, Sault Ste. Marie is hosting Naturallia 2013, a major business‐to‐business matchmaking forum, event organizers announced today.

Akin to speed‐dating for businesses, it’s expected to attract upwards of 200 owners and executives from across Northern Ontario, Canada and the world.

“Naturallia 2013 provides a wonderful opportunity for local and regional companies to form strategic business relationships,” said Mayor Debbie Amaroso. “At the same time, it’s also an ideal occasion to showcase Sault Ste. Marie’s competitive advantages to visiting companies.”

Mayor Amaroso was joined by the Honourable David Orazietti, Ontario Minister of Natural Resources, MP Bryan Hayes and other distinguished guests at the official kickoff today at the Civic Centre.

Naturallia 2013, Northern Ontario’s 3rd international business‐to‐business forum, is focusing on the natural resources sector.

Specifically, it’s targeting companies in smart energy, value-added forest products, mining supply and services, and advanced manufacturing.

Participating businesses are paired off for multiple, one‐on‐one sessions, where mutually‐beneficial opportunities are discussed.

“This event provides a solid opportunity to bolster economic ties and cultivate business relationships,” said Jason Naccarato, co‐chair of Naturallia 2013. “It’s an ideal starting point for companies looking to branch out, establish partnerships, develop new customer and supplier bases, and grow.”

Initiated by RDEE Ontario Alliances, with the proud support of FedNor ‐ Industry Canada, Naturallia 2013 is being hosted by the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC), Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation (SSMEDC) and the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

Major sponsors so far include Riversedge Developments, Sault College, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

“We encourage companies from the North to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity,” said Tom Dodds, co‐chair of Naturallia 2013. “It’s not too often that you get so many global business decision makers in the same room at the same time. It’s the perfect occasion to build business connections with counterparts from around the world and truly demonstrate that Sault Ste. Marie is open for business.”
