The courts need to get tougher. No wonder the police and law abiding citizens get frustrated. The criminal justice system needs reform 'BIG TIME' which includes changes to the young offender act as well! Getting fed up!

Look at that, (above police report)- exactly one month ago. These "model citizens" - did you sense the sarcasim? -are always in the news. As I recall, many charged in the Hallam murder case were also always on the police beat. Come on Judges, lock these repeat offenders up before we have a repeat crime. These people do not have a conscience - they are grown up bullies who will eventually graduate to murder! We need to clean up the drug situation in this city. I have an idea....let's ship these repeats to another country where they have to do physical labour with a heavily armed guard watching thier everymove. We'll see how tough they are then. @J120. thanks for praising our police force. @ others (too many to name)...I guess we did need to pay for the swat team after all. Don't forget, the taxpayers dollars also go to help these criminals on welfare/disability to survive as well. I'll bet the responses will be entertaining today as well...will check back to see. lol

How about you put on about 50 pounds of equipment and YOU be the first one in the door, around corners, up stairs, maybe down stairs, possibly in the dark and be the first one to stick YOUR head through the attic, and maybe have one quarter of a second to make a decision to possibly take someone's life?????

And don't forget to avoid the dirty needles, vomit, blood, excrement, oh and the pit bull that hasn't been fed in days.

I can't wait for your response on this

SaultRentals 3/22/2013 11:35:40 AM Report

No fixed address, Dennis Street, Albert Street, etc. Part of the issue is that these individuals are living in dive apartments, that are not suitable for a pig, they are thrown back into the community, after they are released from jail, no one will hire them because they have a criminal record, they go back on social assistance because they have no money or they start selling drugs again or doing robberies to get items to pawn off, because they need to get money. They start drinking and doing drugs again to numb the pain of their life situation, because even if they wanted to get clean of crime or addictions, they feel trapped and unable to get out of it. In the meantime, they are looking for comfort and get some girl pregnant, who then becomes a C.A.S. case and maybe the girlfriend gets social assistance now to support the baby, but buddy ends up back in court and jail again for knocking off a convenience store to get some quick cash for his next fix or for baby formula... If there is no plan when these people are released, this cycle will continue. Welcome to Sault Ste. Marie...

The police do their jobs. Everyone could direct complaints to MP Hayes's office, bombardment of emails, calls, or visit in person with these complaints, is the best form of bringing this to Harper's attention. The Harper government promised to crack down on crime, they have, but not near enough.
Spyyder 3/22/2013 1:40:06 PM Report

Hayes would resign if that happened!! This scum should indeed be put down, it would save taxpayers a ton of money... The Middle East does it best!!

Why are these people allowed to speak like this? If it was one person saying those things to another in public then most definitely those same words would be taken as threats and intimidation and followed up by charges being laid, protection orders being placed. I pray that none of you EVER have a family member that falls off the tracks for fear that you mayhave a public beheading for them or take them out to your woodshed in the back to cut their fingers or hands off. We should thank the good Lord or Creator or even your veteran next door neighbour for that matter that we DO NOT live in the Middle East...that we enjoy the freedoms that we do, and for anyone to say something so ridiculous just shows that evolution of humanity has passed you by. What have you all come to Sault Ste. Marie? Furthermore why is there not a comment section allotted for the world news or is it that Sault residents world is so small that they need not concern themselves with the rest of the world they live in? When I read these things I get sick to my stomach to think that I walk amongst some of you.
Norm 3/23/2013 11:15:54 AM Report

Syndi, the name calling like scum and trash are unacceptable. Though the repeat offenders, home invasion, and violent crimes, have to be dealt with more severely. Those crimes are also unacceptable.
dad 3/23/2013 1:48:32 PM Report

You can thank our justice system for letting those repeat offenders out on the st they should send them to Iraq or put them in front of a firing squad save the tax payers money this town is not safe to live in get rid of the rif raf

DanaBellerose 3/24/2013 1:37:08 PM Report

Wow ...some of the comments on here are pretty harsh....Just some facts...I am the mother of one of the boys charged in this..I am very embarrassed about my sons behaviour and feel very sorry for any victims of violence. For the people who believe that locking these kind of guys away for long periods of time is the way to go ...well yes..as long as our hard earned tax dollars that 'keep' these guys in jail offers some form of rehabilitation. IF NOT they will get out and continue this behaviour. My son has been to the penitentiary before and so has Trevor...loads of $$$$ spent and now look...vicious cycle. It breaks my heart as a mother to have to spend sooo much time rebuilding our family and now a granddaughter in the middle of this. FYI this is only 1 of my 3 boys and the other 2 are hard working, responsible adults...so this is not a 'family' of criminals...just 1 who breaks my heart.....
And BTW WASH court is weekend and Statutory Holiday court so....court was before Monday...
