Conservative budget abandons Northern Ontario - again
SUDBURY - The NDP’s Northern Ontario caucus is disappointed that the Conservatives have again ignored this region.
“While we’re glad to see that the NDP call for an independent ministry for FedNor has finally been answered, Conservatives then turned around and thumbed their nose at us by cutting funding for regional development,” said Northern Ontario Caucus Chair Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury). “At the same time, Conservatives are reducing infrastructure funding and recklessly moving ahead with cuts to EI.”
Cuts to infrastructure will mean Northern Ontario won’t get the help it needs to stimulate the struggling northern economy or increase job creation.
“It’s time that the Conservatives wake up and listen to what Northern Ontario needs - instead they tabled a budget that ignored our communities,” said Claude Gravelle (Nickel Belt).
“Our strong Northern Ontario New Democrat caucus will continue to fight against this reckless Conservative budget,” said Thibeault.

just be careful what you ask for-you just may get it and find out it is another 1990.
i agree there has to be something done in northern ontario , but do not jump in with both feet without looking at the big picture.
we had the ndp in sault ste. marie for 30 years and did not get one lousy dollar.

marlinfan 3/22/2013 9:16:54 AM ReportAny budget that doesn't take anything away from me and leads toward it being balanced is a great budget to me. Finally a government that runs their finances like I have to run my house... Unlike the classic opposition response about "government job creation, spending your way out of a deficit, etc." Thank goodness we have a sensible government in power. Keep it up...we are the envy of the world.
