QUEEN'S PARK - David Orazietti MPP congratulates Brad Jacobs and his team from the Soo Curlers Association on winning the 2013 Canadian Tim Hortons Brier men’s curling championship on March 10, 2013 in Edmonton, Alberta.

“Brad Jacobs and his impressive team of world class curlers have achieved a monumental victory in winning the Brier Championship and I know everyone in Sault Ste. Marie is very proud,” said Orazietti. “I hope that Brad and his teammates will continue their winning streak at the World Championships later this month and I wish them all the best.”

The Brad Jacob’s rink consists of team members, skip Brad Jacobs, third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden, lead Ryan Harnden, fifth Matt Dumontelle and coach Tom Coulterman.

The Jacob rink won its final six games giving skip Brad Jacobs his first Brier championship and the first for Northern Ontario since 1985, the same year that Jacobs was born.

At the Brier championship, Brad Jacobs was also honoured with the Hec Gervais award as playoff MVP.

In addition, in 2006 Brad Jacobs was a recipient of the Ontario Quest for Gold grant.

The members of Team Jacobs are outstanding role models for curlers across the province and for all Ontarians.

@KMF61MCF - Please, I see some are starting off with the negative comments again today. (refer to td robbery comments yesterday.) Why do you have to take away the great accomplishment these young men have achieved for our city? Talk about raining on their parade? SSM is known for high insurance rates & high divorce rates - I would rather it be on the map for this young team winning the Briar. WAY TO GO GUYS!!! SO PROUD OF YOU ALL!! @I'm in & awesome 1 -thank you for your wonderful comments. The Mayor gives out these shirts to out-of-town visitors, so why can't she give them to locals. Way to acknowledge Debbie!! Be proud that these young men are not in the news for some horrific crime (like the Hallam case going on). Can't wait to watch them in the Ford Men's World Curling games. Go Jacobs Team Go!!!

It's also advertising for the city, especially if they wear them at the World's!
