Insomnia, persistent pooch lead to strange surprise (4 photos)

Friday, March 15, 2013   by: SooToday.com Staff

SooToday.com received the following note and pictures from loyal reader Lori Veldt who found a bit of a silver lining in a cloud of insomnia last night.

*************************
Hi there.

I live on Gibbs Street and this is what you see when you can't sleep at night.

I heard a loud noise shortly after 2:30 a.m. (friday morning) and thought it was the snowplow going by.

My dog kept staring at me for the next half hour so I let him out.

I looked in my front yard and there was a vehicle in it.

I went out to check and see if anyone was in it but it was abandoned so I'm not sure what happened but the police hadn't come, so I called them.

Here are some pictures of the accident.

Just to let u know how BUSY are police are! I had my car broken into and had figured it just happened within a 5 minute time frame so I called the police. So I started driving around the area to see if I could catch the punk because it just happened! It took the police 43 minutes to arrive!! The funny thing about the story is while I was driving around I seen two patrol cars sitting in a church parking lot shooting the breeze....didn't think it mattered because I thought while I was out looking around for the criminal someone from the police must of stopped by to get the information from my wife so I could make a attemp of spotting the criminal in action.....So please to the people that say they are so busy!......well I just have to say Horse Shit to that!

Yep it's getting so bad.Seems every night someone is going up the street and just trying to get into cars.Three nights this week.Going to have to sleep during the day watching at night.Cops say there's nothing they can do.When there is fresh prints in the snow get out and follow them. They might just find them right in the area.

I have a friend who worked at Mac's last summer. A guy came in and threatened to rob the store and was under the influence of drugs (What we later found out to be PCP). After 2 hours, a violent altercation, and 3 calls to police, they finally decided to show up.

When it comes to police response times in the Sault, we are below par.

they would of followed the tracks if a murder had of happened in the area! lol

The comments are very interesting; when I called after my home was broken into, they arrived in about 3 minutes and were very professional and thorough. The perp was never caught, but still, I was glad the police were there to take fingerprints and photos of the damage that was done. Perhaps one day the jerk will get caught for something else and the police will have evidence from my place. I can only hope.

P.S. One of the officers even went around the area in a valiant yet vain attempt to find my missing pet. Thankfully, my fur friend returned several hours later.

Hey sloppyfloppy I think it might have been crashed13 that was high on PCP last summer. After observing his comments I think he's indulging a little today.

I don't think the police were called by the owner until I called then they were there pretty fast.
