Police pay a vist to Melville's house on Pardee

CITY POLICE

NEWS RELEASE

On the 13 March 2013 the City Police Street team was doing compliance checks for Conditional Sentence Orders.

They attended the residence of Melville Harper (age 58) of 134 Pardee Ave.

Mr. Harper was found breaching his Conditional Sentence by consuming alcohol. He was taken to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center to await a bail hearing in the morning.

They find him breaking his bail condition sitting at home with a beer and send him to jail so he can get more bail the very next morning?

Are they bored? Go look into the hundreds of unsolved B&E and hold up case that are unsolved on free time like that.

It's a vicious cycle. If they give him probation on things, but never check to see if he's actually following them, then he will think he can do whatever he wants. They have to show that not following the consequences, has more consequences... That being said, I agree that there are bigger fish to fry, but that doesn't take away from the necessity of enforcing probation checks.
