WOW If there was a jail sentence for being stupid. This guy would get life..
Norm 3/13/2013 5:11:21 PM Report

Gator, there's not stiff enough jail sentences for any types of crimes these days.Harper hasn't got as tough on crime as he promised he was going to. Thieves are breaking into homes, owners there or not, and if caught, sent away with a slap on the wrist. Only to offend once again. Sad, really sad!!!!!
Bad Dawg 3/13/2013 6:33:16 PM Report

I am all prepared to spend my life savings on a defence for assaulting one of these little punks I catch going through my vehicles. One never knows I could get a medal!!!
Tom_Bom 3/13/2013 7:45:35 PM Report

@ "Bad Dawg"

Or you could go to jail for battering a minor.
markbernard 3/13/2013 9:49:16 PM Report

Bad Dawg, that has happened twice so far, there were 3 of them that broke into a car and got beaten senseless, and there were a couple caught breaking into a business by some people waiting for them, one offender ended up with a broken arm... As far as I know the police report for both instances were the suspects sustained falls with non-life threatening injury
newcon 3/14/2013 12:11:21 AM Report

@norm...Harper is trying to toughen up sentencing for punks but the ndp and liberals are against it. Is everybody forgetting here that the lunatic left wanted our firearms until HARPER scrapped the registry??????????????
Catch a punk on your premises and teach him a lesson...if one is defending himself or his/her property then anything goes to ensure self preservation...as long as your actions are within the perameters of the law. Just as a point of interest reloading one's personal ammunition is less costly than purchasing factory loads. Ensure ample powder weight (grains) as to prevent bullet lodging in barrel and NEVER NEVER point a firearm at anything other than your intended target.
Let's promote safe firearms handling for everyone...women included.
ehbcd2 3/14/2013 10:01:26 AM Report

Newcon, get over the left/right crap, Harper's not getting tough on anything except the Canadian taxpayers. His mandatory minimum does nothing but ensure a minimum occupancy level for our soon to be "for profit" prison system. If you want to get tough on crime, increase the maximum sentence and let the judges put the bad ones away.
newcon 3/14/2013 10:54:22 AM Report

If wasn't for Conservatives your meaningless little world would be even more meaningless.

You need to read a book by a Canadian author Naomi Klien, called "The Shock Doctrine - The Rise of Disaster Capitalism".
You seem to think very highly of the Conservative party, so I can only assume that you would be a Republican, if you lived in the US. The Conservatives are hell bent to destroy the working class/middle class in this country, as are the Republicans in the US.
Big Business, namely Automotive, Oil, Banks, Pharmaceutical, Insurance etc, run the show, and if they had their way, everybody would work for minimum wage, if they were lucky! Most business would be sent off-shore so they could profit even more. Of course, all unions would be illegal, all education and medical would be privatized, and any form 'Socialism' would be considered 'Communism', and would be dealt with severely !

Is that what you would like to see happen in Canada ??!! You had better be a 'man of means', and able to fend for yourself because 'Big Business' and the Conservatives will not !!

Do yourself a favour; read the book ! It's an eye opener to say the least, and it may just temper your rightward leanings.
newcon 3/14/2013 7:18:12 PM Report

@Bigg47...don't make me laugh...I was once left (20years ago)and now I'm RIGHT.
You and others need to read books by Milt Friedman, Ayn Rand, Michael Savage, Marc Levine, Bernard Goldman, Bill O'Rielly and more. Socialism does not work...GET OVER IT. Condemn Capitalism??? WHY??? Capitalism has done more to bring the world out of the impoverished nightmare that much of it is still mired in. Maybe you should spend some of your life in these 3rd world SOCIALIST SHIT HOLES like I have and still am doing....25 years now I've bore witness to social born corruption.
People are blinded and see only what left wing special interest groups, including the media other than FOX NEWS, wants them to see. I will never go backwards to the left again.

I am SO SICK of reading the same BULLSHIT on EVERY news post. If ALL OF YOU spent more time stepping up and doing things, than bitching about what other people are/should be doing, things would be a LOT different.
