Local amateur musicians to raise money for a great cause

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON (March 7, 2013) – For the first time, SSM’s top amateur bands will take to the stage at the Pennzoil presents Rock for Dimes fundraiser.

On Saturday, March 23 two bands will shake The Grand Gardens, 68 Dennis St. Sault Ste. Marie to raise funds for both March of Dimes Canada and United Way Sault Ste Marie and district.

The event will provide a musical showcase for RPM and Redundant, the evening’s entertainment.

Local radio personality and City Councillor Lou Turco will be the event host.

“We’re really excited to be holding this fundraiser for the first time in SSM, which also takes place in cities across Canada, including Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, London, Windsor, Niagara, Montreal, Halifax and an upcoming event in Edmonton,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, director of fund development and communications for March of Dimes Canada.

Partnering with United Way on this event will help us to support so many people in need in the community,” she continues.
“We are thrilled to be a partner in bringing Rock for Dimes concert to our community. How appropriate this event is to our mission "To improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action."

"Local business people coming together and sharing their musical talents to benefit the many people our programs support.” says Maureen Dodd, resource development manager for United Way Sault Ste. Marie and district.

The event is presented by Pennzoil, with additional sponsorship from AMG Medical Supplies, Long & McQuade and Crank Sound Distribution, The Grand Gardens and Case's Music.

Pennzoil will be the presenting sponsor for Rock for Dimes fundraisers in 2013 to celebrate the collective passion Pennzoil and so many others have for the love of cars and the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.

“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile. Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 at The Grand Gardens, located at 68 Dennis St. Sault Ste. Marie

The event is open to the public.

Tickets are $15 per person.
