Sault band earns regional finals spot. Help them move to national level

Tuesday, March 05, 2013   by: Donna Hopper

A Sault Ste. Marie band has made it through the first two rounds of CBC Radio's regional Searchlight competition.

Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect is one of five acts in our region to move on to the competition's regional finals as determined by online fan votes.

The Sault boys will now battle for a spot in the nation-wide final round for a chance to win $20,000 in Yamaha music gear, a feature CBC Music video session, and a high-profile performance showcase in Toronto.

In order to help Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect become Canada's best new artist and win that wicked-cool prize pack, friends and supporters are encouraged to click here and vote for the band's track, This Time.

Participants can vote once a day per device - meaning if you have a desktop, a laptop and a cell phone, etc. you can submit votes from all three - until regional polls close at midnight on Thursday, March 7.

The finalists from each of Canada's 24 regions will be revealed on Friday, March 8 at 9 p.m.

Voters are also invited to click here and enter to win one of five Yamaha prizes valued at approximately $1,000 each.

The CBC Music Yamaha Gear Giveaway closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.

I will vote for the locals. I urge everyone to vote whether you're into the music or not. Seen them last summer, they're a pretty talented bunch who have studied and worked very hard at music for quite sometime.
