Why would you saw off a rifle..... I don't get people, if you are going to saw off a gun you supposed to saw off a shotgun and buy a higher number bb count so its now a scatter gun. Thats the purpose of sawing off a gun. If you are sawing it off for concealment then buy a handgun. Either way both are still useless in close combat, scatter guns are the best for novice gangsters.

You're brilliant for posting something so educational. Do you feel good about yourself?

Maybe the police should pay you a visit to see your collection so they know what to look for when the "real criminals" are using them. In a world with so much violence, why people keep posting enabling garbage is beyond me.

Keep up the good work. Next week, can you please blog about making pipe-bombs, maybe do a presentation at a few elementary schools or even make it a take home project at a high-school shop class?

I was being sarcastic in my post. And you can find more information at your local library then what I posted. I just find it funny the mentality of criminals and how they get caught or charged. The best are the criminals running drugs but they drive a stolen car or have headlights out........

For a gun to "sawed off" and legal it must be done by a gunsmith and then it is classed as a restricted firearm.

why don't they have handguns.... because most of the guns these losers get are stolen, not too many people have handguns.

@Bad Dawg

“For a gun to "sawed off" and legal it must be done by a gunsmith and then it is classed as a restricted firearm….”

Almost but not quite accurate. You can do your own gunsmithing on non-restricted firearms as long as you do not go below the federal gun restrictions on both barrel and overall weapon length. (For example I want to shorten my 26” barrel deer rifle to a carbine length of 22”). Under current gun legislation, there is nothing preventing me to do so. It states that a non-restricted firearm must have an overall length of at least 26” including a barrel length that is at least 18”

FYI The Federal Firearms Act (S.C. 1995, c. 39):

Definition of a prohibited firearm:

According to the Criminal Code, a prohibited firearm is:
a. a handgun that
o has a barrel equal to or less than 105 mm in length, or
o is designed or adapted to discharge a 25 or 32 calibre cartridge, but does not include any such handgun that is prescribed, where the handgun is for use in international sporting competitions governed by the rules of the International Shooting Union,
b. a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,
o is less than 660 mm in length, or
o is 660 mm or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm in length,
c. an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger, or
d. any firearm that is prescribed to be a prohibited firearm

@Bad Dawg

You are correct if the above isn't short enough for you.... You would have to have it done at a gunsmith and then have the gun (now a weapon) reclassified to a restricted or prohibitive firearm.
