*************************
Dr. Mir Shafiee, a Nephrologist at Sault Area Hospital will be running in the Boston Marathon this spring on April 15, 2013.

Mir Shafiee qualified for the 2013 Boston Marathon by running the Ottawa Marathon in May of 2012 in a time of 3:07, eight minutes ahead of the maximum Boston qualification time for his age/gender category.

The Ottawa Marathon was Mir’s second race at 26.1 miles, finishing 10 minutes ahead of his previous marathon time.

This noticeable improvement is attributed to his focus to detail, commitment, and learning from his first experience.

Mir can be found most Sunday mornings starting at 6 a.m. out running the hills on Old Garden River Road as he prepares himself for the famous Newton Hills in Boston.

Long runs on Sunday can cover a distance of up to 35 km on top of the 70 to 90 additional km’s Mir runs during the week while still placing family time and work ahead of this running hobby.

“This is a great opportunity for me to help raise money for the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Renal Fund to be used for new equipment purchases, said Dr. Shafiee. I would ask that if anyone would like to support my efforts running in this race you can make a donation to the Foundation which will benefit so many.”

Donations can be made online at www.sahfoundation and clicking on the donate now button or by calling 705-759-3848.
