Sault Ste. Marie YMCA launches 2013 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign

Our annual fundraising campaign aims to raise $65,000 to ensure local kids and families have opportunities to realize their full potential

SAULT STE. MARIE - Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is inviting the local public to support the 2013 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

Money raised will give children, teens and young adults in our community a chance to join YMCA programs designed to promote health, education and job skills within a positive environment, giving young people the skills that lead to better life decisions.

"The annual YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is one of our most important fundraising events. The campaign enables all kids and families in our community to access the much needed programs provided by the YMCA," said Kim Caruso, CEO of the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA. "One in four kids coming to our Y needs financial assistance. With the funds raised by the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign we are able to provide opportunities for all kids are to participate and learn healthy living habits in a nurturing environment."

This past summer a school principal was concerned about a family at his school who were having trouble.

Through the YMCA Strong Kids campaign, the youth were able to come to YMCA Summer Day Camps and since then their grades have improved, along with their behaviour at school.

The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is committed to providing much needed community programs for children, teens and young adults to find care, guidance, physical and educational training as well as friendship with other kids and caring adults.

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign enables families in need of financial assistance, temporarily or in longer term, to benefit from their local Y.

Visit www.ymcastrongkids.ca or call the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA for more information or to make a donation.
