SooToday.com received a pleasant note and this photo today from faithful reader and devoted mother Shawna Varcoe.

She was at Toronto SickKids hospital yesterday with her 20-month-old son, Everett, when they received a surprise visit.

"These trips are always very long, tiring and stressful," she explained. "However, during our wait to see the doctor yesterday, we were pleasantly surprised by a few players from the Toronto Maple Leafs."

Everett, pictured with Leafs defenceman John-Michael Liles and centre Jay McClement, was just one of more than 300 children at the hospital that got to hang with players and receive gift bags full of Leafs swag during the team's annual hospital visit.

"The guys were so pleasant and it sure broke up the day for the kids and parents," Varcoe said. "The children were given a variety of Maple Leaf items and pictures were being taken. Kudos to those guys for taking time out of their day to share some excitement and smiles for some kids who could really need it!"
