Long weekend coming up: City's closed and open list

CITY OF SAULT STE. MARIE

Family day closures
SAULT STE. MARIE - In recognition of the Family Day statutory holiday, several municipal facilities will not operate on Monday, February 18, 2013.
Closed on February 18:
• Cemetery office
• Children’s centres (Jessie Irving, Maycourt, Best Start – Holy Family site)
• Civic Centre
• Essar Centre office and box office
• John Rhodes Community Centre pool
• Library (all branches)
• Seniors’ centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
• Social Services (Ontario Works, Social Housing, Community Child Care, and Accessibility office)
• Transit office
Community centres and arenas
• Essar Centre – open for public skating from 2 to 4 p.m.
• John Rhodes Community Centre arenas and the McMeeken Centre – closed
• West End Community Centre – closed
Outdoor rinks
• Open weather permitting; please refer to on-site signage.
Refuse and recycling
No collection Monday, February 18.
Collection for the balance of the week will be one day late.
Refuse and recyclables must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. to ensure pickup.
Reminder: Please place garbage bags/containers on the ground as close as possible to the roadway, but not on the sidewalk, travelled roadway or on top of snow banks.
The City landfill site will be closed Monday, February 18; however, it will be open Tuesday to Friday, February 19-22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, February 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Transit service
Regular transit will operate with hourly service (Sunday schedule) on Monday, February 18.
There will be no Community Bus service on February 18.
Parabus service will operate on Monday, February 18.
Parabus bookings for February 16-19 must be made by noon on Friday, February 15.

madworld39 2/12/2013 4:35:24 PM Reportwow. it's family day and in order to promote family activities the john rhodes center and west end community center are closed. what happened to families spending time togethere in community sites. i was going to go swimming with my family. guess not now.

I know it's not the same but you could always take them to the 'Y' for a swim - just a suggestion if you really had your heart set on going swimmining with the family :)

Here is the big pool schedule for Monday's during Winter 2013; Hope this helps... and no i'm not affiliated with the YMCA in any way just in case you think i'm trying to plug the 'Y' (i'm not even a member) - i'm just politely and kindly trying to offer a useful alternative.
