Slim Shady 2/6/2013 9:23:33 AM Report

Is this useless waste of skin related to Eric Mearow (another useless waste of skin with no benefit to society, the charged and soon to be convicted murderer)?

If he is I can see that his parents did a fine job raising a loving respectible family. One misfit could be a fluke, but two? Some people should be sterilized.

KDRH 2/6/2013 9:51:34 AM Report

euroman 2/6/2013 10:21:52 AM Report

Pathetic. It really is the criminals' justice system.
mudrunner 2/6/2013 11:01:27 AM Report

Looks like Shawn Mearow is on the 2 year crime spree.
Drmcorpschick 2/6/2013 11:13:46 AM Report

Who wouldn't like it, going to jail that is. All his friends are there, 3 square meals a day (they eat better than nursing Homes) and its warm.
mudrunner 2/6/2013 11:26:13 AM Report

Don't forget free cable an internet.
Slick Nick 2/6/2013 12:06:26 PM Report

There should be no perks in jail.

No TV, Internet, or anything else for that matter.

Books only. But half of them probably can't read.

Snowdon 2/6/2013 1:23:03 PM Report

You all realize that there are things in prison that are there to help rehabilitate and reintegrate prisoners right?

But of course, take one example and use it to fuel your ridiculous fantasies of some perfect society once anyone who's ever committed a crime is murdered or thrown in a windowless cell for the rest of their lives.
Spyyder 2/6/2013 2:02:49 PM Report

Canada should have a three strike rule... Just sayin'. Reinstate the death penalty and execute these bastards, to hell with the court system, I'd enough evidence exists to the gas chamber, firing squad or electric chair they go. However this would be bad for business as the business of corrections would have less prisoners and would have to stop wasting our tax dollars!!
Bad Dawg 2/6/2013 2:14:56 PM Report

Even exile the lil buggers. The ruskies have a great method Siberian Work Camps. Work for your food, behave yourself or die.
mudrunner 2/6/2013 2:26:42 PM Report

Snowdon its not working an why do they need Cable TV an internet. come on now books an newspaper are good. your just looking for someone to argue with.
saultresident 2/6/2013 2:59:25 PM Report

it is no longer a detention AND rehabilitation centre. It is ONLY a detention centre. No help for the bad guys here. Many people don't realize this.
Slim Shady 2/6/2013 3:05:14 PM Report

@Snowdon

I don't buy the poor victim routine of chronic criminals! Rehabilitation? Really? Would you invite one of these “rehabilitated” pieces of crap in your house? Date your daughter? Work for your business?

Society continually makes excuses for people’s actions or tries to give them another fancy named medical disease to explain away their “condition”. Enough! People need to be accountable for themselves… Enough “my Mommy didn’t love me”, “I was molested by my Priest”, “I can’t read or write”, “The Devil made me do it”….. excuses.

A windowless cell? Oh society is soooo harsh. We are not talking about a kid who stole once from a store at 16…. These people feed on the system… Society owes them. Other cultures don’t put up with the bullsh$%.... they cut off a thief’s hand or cane them till they bleed. You are right… Jail is too harsh.
zartan 2/6/2013 3:10:03 PM Report

Yeah, what slim said.
SM-G 2/6/2013 3:26:45 PM Report

As “Slim Shady” said, no one wants to associate with someone who is a convicted criminal, and they definitely do not want to hire them to work for their business. Perhaps that is part of the problem? You often see the same names as “co-accused”; maybe those are the only people who will be around you? And when you can’t get a decent job, crime pays well. I am in NO way defending these two particular men, but if we condemn everyone who has made mistakes in the past, what other life options do they have to make a different future? Jail should be a place of rehabilitation for those who are open to it, an opportunity to make a different life.
mallet 2/6/2013 5:04:56 PM Report

SM-G

These people did not go straight to jail. Like everyone else they go through the system, first to be of good behaviour, then probation, then conditional discharge before they land locked up... As for rehab, biggest joke going, just another way of spending taxpayers dollars and being seen to do something.

The major problem with the justice system is the time delay in going to court especially for young offenders. No use punishing someone for something they did 3 or 4 months ago. get picked up by the police, you are in court the next day, you want a different lawyer you stay in jail until you get the one you want to pay for, and the sentence is carried out there and then. And the offender pays restitution to the victim, and if they are under age the parents have to pay. maybe that would encourage parents to take more interest in what their kids are doing ...
mudrunner 2/6/2013 7:31:52 PM Report

If the parents have to pay then get the belt ready, Just saying.
