NDP: Wynne’s ‘Northern Cabinet Committee’ ignores most of Northern Ontario
QUEEN’S PARK – Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof [shown] issued the following statement about designate Premier Wynne’s announcement of a Northern Cabinet Committee.
“It’s good to hear Ms. Wynne say she wants to pay more attention to the North, but I’m concerned that it’s largely partisan lip service. By creating a Northern Committee drawn only from the Liberal caucus, she is effectively silencing most of the North.
“My motion from the last legislative session to create an all-party Northern Committee, made up of all Northern MPPs, would have offered a real voice and fair representation to the North.
“It’s important for the new Premier to break Dalton McGuinty’s cycle of ignoring the North. Let’s get the legislature back to work, and let’s create a real Northern Committee that gives a legitimate voice to everyone in the North.”

W. Yote 2/5/2013 11:33:29 PM ReportIn the end any of the current parties will side with Toronto on the big issues... That's where the votes are. The system is broken.
The North either needs a party for the North or a NEW PROVINCE all together.
All Northern MPP's should leave their current parties and stand as one united front for the North!
purplepussycat 2/6/2013 7:41:57 AM ReportTotally agree M. Yote.
My 83 year Grand Mother was told on a Friday in Sudbury that the "bud car" (passenger train) and the ONLY option for seniors or anyone else from remote communities who need to travel to Sudbury was not running on the scheduled route that morning. She was told she would have to wait until Tuesday for the next scheduled trip?? This would never happen Southern Ontario - because she would have numerous options. This is one example C'mon Northerners we have the resources (LITERALLY) let's support a Northern only Party to look after our interests - Toronto could care less...
purplepussycat 2/6/2013 7:43:48 AM ReportSorry Mr. Yote, it's W. Yote...either way, you're right on the money:)
cjborg 2/6/2013 8:18:17 AM ReportWhat do you expect???? If, heaven forbid, the NDP wins the next election and we still have Liberal MPP... would you expect this MPP to be selected to represent the North???? not very likely....
funkywalker 2/6/2013 9:33:17 AM ReportLet's separate!
