Rev up your engines while helping to raise funds for children and youth with physical disabilities

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – This Saturday is an annual tradition for many snow machiners: Snowarama for Easter Seals Kids.

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie will be holding the 39th annual Snowarama fundraiser for Easter Seals Kids.

The event will start at Gino’s Family Restaurant on Great Northern Rd. at 7:30 a.m.

Riders who raise over $150 in donations will receive a free breakfast, free lunch, free trail pass and $25 worth of free gas.

After breakfast, riders will head out for a full day of adventure and excitement on the trails freshly groomed by the Sault Trailblazers Snowmobile Club.

Bring all your family and friends and hit the trails at Snowarama for Easter Seals!

This event welcomes people of all ages. Children under 12 eat for free and can ride with their parents for only an additional fundraised amount of $20 per child.

In addition to the incentives mentioned, prizes have been donated by Construction Equipment Co., Dynatype Motorsports, Joe’s Sports and Surplus, North Shore Sports & Auto and Rivercity Motorsports (all prizes valued over $200).

Vice-President of the Sault Trailblazers club, Darrell Maahs, says that with all of the recent cold weather the trails are better than they have been in years.

There are over 20,000 children, youth and young adults in Ontario with a physical disability.

Some of these children were born with disabilities such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida, some have spinal cord or brain injuries resulting from childhood accidents, others sustained brain damage through infections like encephalitis and meningitis.

Regardless of the cause, these children share a common desire for independence, acceptance and achievement.

Easter Seals Ontario began in 1922 as a vision to create a better life for children and youth with physical disabilities.

While the specific programs and services may have changed over the decades, Easter Seals’ dedication to helping these young people achieve a greater level of acceptance and independence is unwavering.

Today, Easter Seals’ programs and services include: financial assistance for mobility equipment and communication devices; fully accessible camp and funding for other summer recreational programs; providing access to information and resources, and public education and awareness.
