On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, the public and news media are invited to attend an information session, hosted by the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corp. (SSMEDC) and the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC).
City councillors have also been invited.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for citizens to learn about and discuss each organization’s activities to date, along with their plans for 2013 and beyond.
Two concurrent information sessions, one for each organization, will be held, with the first starting at 4:30 p.m., and the other starting at 5:15 p.m.
The meetings will be held at the Civic Centre in the Biggings Room and Korah Room.
Refreshments will be available.

About Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre
The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) was established in 1999 to function as a catalyst for economic development and diversification in the information technology and knowledge-based sectors.
SSMIC is focused on four core areas: operating a business incubator to encourage the establishment and growth of business start‐ups; providing support services to the SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) technology and science community; supporting the establishment and enhancement of advanced research projects in the region and undertaking strategic market development projects such as the highly successful GIS project.

About the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation
The Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation is an independent, non-profit organization aimed at generating wealth, creating jobs, increasing the Municipal tax base and attracting visitors.
It has a volunteer board of directors that includes a city councillor and the mayor (ex-officio), along with individuals who represent the public, private and non-profit sectors.
The board provides the corporation with strategic direction, which is then undertaken by the staff team.
Its offices are located at the Civic Centre.
To fulfill its mandate, the SSMEDC is organized around three unique divisions: Business Sault Ste. Marie, Tourism Sault Ste. Marie and Corporate Services.
