Cheaper auto-insurance rates high on NDP's agenda

Monday, February 04, 2013   by: Staff

Get back-to-business by focusing on priorities: Horwath

QUEEN'S PARK – NDP Leader Andrea Horwath mapped out priorities for the spring legislative session, laying out proposals to make life affordable, help seniors meet their health-care needs and take a balanced approach to balancing the budget.

“Ontarians understand we’re facing big challenges. They don’t expect us to overcome them overnight but they don’t want to see the same status quo. They expect prudent, affordable change. We can achieve that this session,” said Horwath.

Horwath and the NDP caucus have toured across the province consulting with Ontarians on health-care, jobs, debt and the deficit.

As the House gets ready to resume, Horwath put forward achievable ideas that will allow Ontario to focus on making life better for typical families while balancing Ontario's books:

• A home care guarantee that will ensure seniors receive home care service within five days

• Giving the Financial Services Commission a mandate to reduce auto insurance rates by 15 percent

• A commitment to find savings within the current fiscal framework while protecting the quality services Ontarians rely on.

“These are realistic, achievable results that we can deliver, that will help balance the books and help Ontarians in their everyday lives,” said Horwath.

Like the Insurance Companies are going to take a hit. Comon!, Give everyone 15% off premiums and then turn around with a 25% charge on "Delivery Fee's" (sound familar). Your not going to beat the Insurance Racket.

Well, lets just nationalize the insurance and gas and oil companies. While we are at it, I'm paying more for Interact fees so lets mandate no fees for the banking sector...

I have never seen when the government gets involved, the price for anything go down (or service improve).

Way to go Andrea, you will sell us down the river to get votes...

I have paid all my insurance policy’s religiously always. Had a water pipe burst, had to wrestle with them to cover it …once covered and renewed my new policy, I come to find out the rates stayed similar, however they put my deductible up ...from $500 to $10,000 so really it’s not insurance now is it …cuz if another pipe gives out, I will be paying myself. Talk about a licence to gouge. When you have to put in a claim, it should really be called a loan, cuz believe me, they will get it all back plus in your future insurance plans.

That is SOOO Dam funny. NDP is always for saying things they cannot possibly pull out of their hat. And I didn't even see the top hat on her head.

It takes a LOT of premium payments to pay all of those executives at the top. Not including the millions and millions of dollars of bonus's give out year year. Especially to the executive who thought of raising the deductible to to get their money back from you after a claim. He got a 3 million dollar bonus for that call.

The adjusters they send over, to go over your loss, are there for one reason see how much money they can save the insurance companies ..they are NOT there for you. They also bring a tape recorder to get your every word ..hoping you make a misstatement, and then use it against you however they see fit. He didn’t like me giving ….basically one word answers …yeses and no’s , ... so if you ever have to make a claim remember, answer with as little of explanation as possible.. They are just snakes waiting in the bush..!

Terrible, after you have paid for protection for those untimely mishaps in life and they do there very best not to honour their side by twisting words and coverages.

All those many years ago after a fire.. realized the claim adjuster and the contractor HE picked to do the job were best buds..

Shoddy work happily paid for by the insurance company.. man owned his own flooring company ... Whew. shyster to the Max!

Have been impressed by one car insurance company when i had a crash in TO... heading to Ottawa... but most don't impress, now do they?

One of those 'necessary evils'
