Apparently in Sault Ste. Marie, you are guilty until proven innocent.

Seriously seen_your, people here seem to think being "charged" is the same thing as being "convicted."

Unfortunately sexual assault could be anything from a bum touch to full fledged rape and we will never know what it is. and yes I know unwanted touching is assault but.... if a had a dollar for everyone unwanted/uninvited touch kiss/dance with groping etc. I wouldn't have to work today.....LOL or there wouldhave been lots of guys charged. Where is the line drawn?

If the guy was charged with DUI we would have his name printed.
CrankxGirl 2/1/2013 11:02:10 AM Report

Lovely little sootoday reader witchhunt we have here.
Except charged & convicted are two VERY different things.
willoweep 2/1/2013 12:30:50 PM Report

I don't think his name should be published ,because even if he is found innocent, many will still associate him with a sex crime.

You never see the news stating the Person was found not guilty .

And just what if ,she had a grudge from work? or whatever.

I am NOT saying this is the case, I know nothing about this case except for what I just read.

Even if he has done nothing ,he might as well kiss his job goodbye because his name and his character will be sullied .

People will talk ,he ,his Family, his Friends will all feel some fall out from this ,regardless if he is innocent.

People should not be so quick to condemn.

SM-G 2/1/2013 2:18:22 PM Report

ANY type of unwanted sexual touching is absolutely unacceptable!! And should not be tolerated in the eyes of the law OR by the community! To brush it off as a “normal” occurrence (as “sweetc” seems to state) only makes it acceptable for people to continue doing such things. I am not saying that I know what happened, or presuming the accused is guilty, but sadly to say, this type of thing happens all too often and needs to be treated more seriously. We all have the right to not be violated in such a manner.
sweetc 2/1/2013 2:56:07 PM Report

SM-G... so if a guy does not ask a girl can I kiss you but just goes in for a kiss he can be charged.

If a guy drapes his arm around you and "accidently" lets his hand rest where it shouldn't he can be charged.

If during a dance the guy lets his arms drop from the waist to a lower region he can be charged.

This is what you are saying. It is all totally unacceptable no matter what.

It is a sad world if this is in fact what you mean.

SM-G 2/1/2013 3:23:07 PM Report

No, it is a sad world if just because I am a woman a man thinks he can feel free to grope me, or more. We all have a right to not be sexually touched if we do not want to be. And just because I agree to dance with someone, does NOT imply that I give permission for him to touch my bottom or my breasts. Would I charge “dancing guy” for that? Personally, no. But he would sure know how I felt about it right away.
