WATCHES/WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR NORTHERN ONTARIO.
FREEZING RAIN WARNING FOR GREATER SUDBURY AND VICINITY - NEW LISKEARD - TEMAGAMI - MANITOULIN ISLAND - ESPANOLA - KILLARNEY - NORTH BAY - WEST NIPISSING.
FREEZING RAIN DEVELOPING WEDNESDAY.
A DEEPENING LOW FROM COLORADO IS TRACKING NORTHEAST TOWARDS NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO TONIGHT.
PRECIPITATION FROM THIS WINTER STORM HAS MOVED INTO THE DISTRICT AS EXPECTED WITH RAIN FALLING NEAR THE GREAT LAKES AND FREEZING RAIN FURTHER NORTH.
THE FREEZING RAIN WILL CHANGE OVER TO PLAIN RAIN IN ALL AREAS BY MORNING AS MILDER AIR PAYS A VISIT.
HOWEVER AS THE STORM CENTRE TRACKS NORTHEAST ACROSS THE NORTH BAY AREA INTO WESTERN QUEBEC WEDNESDAY, COLD AIR WILL FILTER BACK INTO THE REGIONS FROM THE NORTH, CAUSING THE TEMPERATURE TO DROP BACK BELOW THE ZERO DEGREE MARK.
RAIN WILL TURN BACK TO FREEZING RAIN ON WEDNESDAY AS A RESULT.
FREEZING RAIN MAY LAST A FEW HOURS FOLLOWED BY A TRANSITION TO ICE PELLETS THEN TO SNOW AS THE COLD AIR CONTINUES TO GET DEEPER.
MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR UNTREATED SURFACES TO BECOME ICY AND TREACHEROUS. TRAVEL PLANS SHOULD BE ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY.
RAINFALL WARNING FOR: GREATER SUDBURY AND VICINITY - NEW LISKEARD - TEMAGAMI - MANITOULIN ISLAND - ESPANOLA - KILLARNEY - NORTH BAY - WEST NIPISSING.
30 TO 50 MM OF RAIN TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
AS MILDER AIR ASSOCIATED WITH A STRONG COLORADO LOW PAYS A VISIT, AN AREA OF RAIN, AT TIMES HEAVY, WILL SOAK NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
A GENERAL RAINFALL OF 20 TO 30 MM IS FORECAST FOR TONIGHT WITH ANOTHER 10 TO 20 MM WEDNESDAY.
THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ARE LIKELY TO OCCUR IN A SWATH FROM MANITOULIN ISLAND TO NORTH BAY.
SNOWFALL WARNING FOR: SAULT STE. MARIE - SUPERIOR EAST.
HEAVY SNOW WEDNESDAY.
SOME LIGHT RAIN OR DRIZZLE ALONG WITH FOG PATCHES WILL TURN OVER TO SNOW LATER TONIGHT AS COLD AIR FILTERS IN FROM THE NORTH JUST IN TIME FOR MOISTURE FROM A DEEPENING COLORADO LOW TO REACH THE DISTRICT.
THE SNOW WILL BE QUITE HEAVY AT TIMES AS THE LOW BRINGING THE WINTER STORM TRACKS NORTHEAST ACROSS THE UPPER GREAT LAKES TO NORTH BAY THEN INTO QUEBEC WEDNESDAY.
TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 15 TO 20 CM ARE EXPECTED BY WEDNESDAY EVENING.
WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL QUICKLY DETERIORATE AND BECOME HAZARDOUS DUE TO QUICKLY ACCUMULATING SNOW ON UNTREATED ROADS AND VISIBILITY REDUCED TO LESS THAN 500 METRES AT TIMES IN HEAVY SNOW.
TRAVEL PLANS SHOULD BE ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY.
WINTER STORM WARNING FOR: TIMMINS - COCHRANE - IROQUOIS FALLS - CHAPLEAU - GOGAMA - KIRKLAND LAKE - ENGLEHART - ELLIOT LAKE - RANGER LAKE - BLIND RIVER - THESSALON.
WINTER STORM WITH FREEZING RAIN AND HEAVY SNOW TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN AND FREEZING DRIZZLE CONTINUE OVER MOST OF THE REGIONS TONIGHT.
A SECOND SURGE OF MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH A DEEPENING COLORADO LOW TRACKING TOWARDS THE UPPER GREAT LAKES AND NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
FOR AREAS SOUTH OF TIMMINS, FREEZING PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION TO PATCHY LIGHT RAIN OR DRIZZLE TONIGHT.
AS TEMPERATURES FALL ON WEDNESDAY, RAIN IS FORECAST TO CHANGE OVER TO FREEZING RAIN AND ICE PELLETS, THEN SNOW.
TOTAL SNOW AND ICE PELLET AMOUNTS OF UP TO 15 CM ARE POSSIBLE BY LATE WEDNESDAY.
FOR THE TIMMINS AND NORTHERN CHAPLEAU REGIONS, THE WARMER AIR IS LIKELY TO REMAIN TO THE SOUTH.
AS A RESULT, PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR ICE PELLETS WILL LIKELY TRANSITION STRAIGHT TO SNOW OVERNIGHT AND HIGHER SNOWFALL TOTALS OF 15 TO 25 CM ARE QUITE POSSIBLE BY LATE WEDNESDAY.
HAZARDOUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS FROM QUICKLY ACCUMULATING SNOW ON UNTREATED ROADS AND LOW VISIBILITY OF LESS THAN 500 METRES IN AREAS OF HEAVY SNOW ARE EXPECTED.
WATCHES/WARNINGS ENDED FOR NORTHERN ONTARIO.
FREEZING RAIN WARNING ENDED FOR: KAPUSKASING - HEARST - SMOOTH ROCK FALLS - LITTLE ABITIBI - KESAGAMI LAKE.

Tom_Bom 1/29/2013 11:37:55 AM ReportSounds like its gonna make things pretty slippery out there. I've already fallen once on an icey patch this year, i've met my quota for the next 365 days. :P
Pictureman 1/29/2013 5:03:14 PM ReportIn view of more winter weather I wonder how many dummy drivers will forget AGAIN how to drive in winter conditions. Here's a hint... SLOW DOWN... CLEAN ALL of your windows off, CLEAN OFF YOUR HEADLIGHTS and TAIL LIGHTS. The coffee will still be HOT when you get to Tim's. Hey people it's not rocket science. It's good old common sense.
EAS 1/29/2013 5:06:41 PM ReportIt will probably be high risk to venture out on the roads tomorrow. Not necessarily because of the weather either. The biggest risk is the idiot drivers who think they are invincible because they have 4X4, and the even bigger idiots who don't and still drive like they think they do!!
ehbcd2 1/29/2013 5:37:34 PM ReportHave to agree with comments here, there were a lot of accidents in the past week or so and most if not all of them were caused by stupidity. Slow down.
KMF61MCF 1/29/2013 5:52:44 PM ReportOnce again why are the Police not handing out tickets to People who do not clear the snow off there windows. 110.00 fine lazy cops
bounder 1/29/2013 6:41:18 PM ReportThe whole vehicle has to be cleaned off and that includes the roof, period.
stiJJy 1/29/2013 6:48:27 PM ReportJust as big of a danger is the extremely cautious, and slow driver who is forcing everyone to pass, and creating frustration.
beanie 1/29/2013 6:53:58 PM Report@stiJJy
I agree 100%.. if you're not comfotable driving in these conditions.. don't!
rcamp211 1/29/2013 7:46:41 PM Reportunreal!! you people bitch about every thing.your parents/grandparents drove in worse weather than this to put food on the table.
DeeFlems 1/29/2013 9:00:16 PM Reporthttp://kunsoo1024.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/i-can-typing1.gif
How I feel when reading most Sootoday commenters posts....and DON'T over react people! It's called a JOKE!!! hahah
I'm In 1/29/2013 9:36:57 PM ReportEAS: I have a 4x4 and am not an idiot when driving, you probalby would have one if you could afford it, best purchase I ever made to keep me from getting stuck in the winter thats what 4x4 means you nerd. If you don't know how to drive in the winter take a bus.
Boris 1/29/2013 9:47:21 PM ReportLet me make sure I have this right, people with 4x4s should stay home, people who drive like
They own a 4x4 should stay home, and cautious people should stay home. Let me guess, that means that only you, someone who is a perfect driver should be out, but wait, you can't afford a vehicle, so to he'll with you. I'll be the one in the 4x4 passing everyone haha. Suck my snow dust.
iamtc 1/29/2013 9:57:34 PM ReportHOW ABOUT SNOWSHOES.
stiJJy 1/29/2013 9:59:41 PM ReportLol, Boris, who are you talking to?
Terry Fortier 1/29/2013 10:45:48 PM ReportI'm In 1/29/2013 9:36:57 PM Report
EAS: If you don't know how to drive in the winter take a bus.
@ EAS:
I tried to take a bus but the cops made me give it back! jk/lol
drew_69 1/29/2013 10:54:49 PM ReportComplain all you want about other peoples driving habits... You can't fix stupid and you can't teach common sense.
RLE 1/30/2013 6:03:29 AM ReportI'm In: I Bought a 4x4 last summer and used it to repair one that was rotted out on my deck They're not that expensive.
Sam C 1/30/2013 10:00:44 AM ReportKMF... the police DO hand out tickets. I have seen people pulled over for this. Unfortunately, they can't catch everyone, as they are typically busy dealing with shoplifting, domestic disputes, and assault complaints.
TheBeerman 1/31/2013 9:23:59 PM ReportIt would be nice to think they're busy dealing with actual crimes... Wouldn't it?
