Derd78 1/27/2013 6:21:54 PM Report

Should be a reckless driving charge as well for running a red.
Snowdon 1/27/2013 7:04:14 PM Report

Thanks tips.
Working Man 1/27/2013 7:09:27 PM Report

Perhaps Ms Brown should have been charged for failing to observe the intersection before going through.

Perhaps it was also a yellow light in the process of turning red and Ms Brown assumed he was stopping. How can you not stop on the red at that intersection? Ms Brown was either going straight to the Y or turning left on the green arrow. It was most likely a yellow light that Mr Zeng tried to get through in time. 'They' don't tell you that in the article though. I guess they failed to point that out.

And why exactly is it ok to publicly declare the victims name in this case?
shhh 1/27/2013 7:18:52 PM Report

The guy is definitely not winning....he's Lu Zeng.
Snowdon 1/27/2013 7:32:23 PM Report

"And why exactly is it ok to publicly declare the victims name in this case?"

Perhaps she was asked if it was okay to publish it.
thera 1/27/2013 7:35:52 PM Report

Workingman, sounds like you are one of those inconsiderate drivers who don't care about a yellow light or probably keeps turning even when the advance light is over.
Beej 1/27/2013 7:39:06 PM Report

"How can you not stop on the red at that intersection?"

Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sweetc 1/27/2013 8:09:51 PM Report

I wonder if it was possible just possible maybe that he slid through it> The roads have been incredibly slippery these days.
shorty38 1/27/2013 8:41:18 PM Report

And::::
Just maybe, like a lot of Sault Ste Marie drivers he ignors red lights.
Norm 1/27/2013 9:07:52 PM Report

Thera, doesn't.
Vicci 1/27/2013 9:24:07 PM Report

Or maybe he ran a red light and hit another vehicle......oh wait......
frair 1/27/2013 9:57:08 PM Report

Don't say "Ms. Brown" like you know her Working Man. That is my sister and the children in the car were my neice and nephew! She was turning right into the YMCA to drop them off, not much margin for error there. The police determined he was going at least 50 through the red light and had not properly cleared his windows of ice and snow when he hit her and they laid the charges so talk to them, and the several eye witnesses. I have a feeling you either are Mr. Zheng or are related to him. Here's a tip. It was an accident. Just own up to it.
Sam C 1/27/2013 10:16:40 PM Report

FYI, Working Man... Amber means STOP.

Amber light
(15) Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing a circular amber indication and facing the indication shall stop his or her vehicle if he or she can do so safely, otherwise he or she may proceed with caution.
R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 144 (15).

And before you try to convince us he was "proceeding with caution," hitting another vehicle does not demonstrate caution.
Dead End Kid 1/27/2013 10:22:55 PM Report

For many aggressive drivers in this city a caution light means for them to accelerate at a high rate of speed so that they may "beat" the yellow light before it changes to red.

What can I say, they are all a bunch of idiots who are putting innocent people's lives at risk. I have no pity for the idiot drivers who are injured as a result of his or her stupidity.
iamtc 1/27/2013 10:40:26 PM Report

I think everyone should go back to riding horses.
jojoe71 1/27/2013 10:49:42 PM Report

I think all cities are the same when it comes to driving habits. Every one is in a big hurry to go nowhere.Every one thinks the other driver is the idiot. Are you one of these idiots that's too lazy to clear your back window before you head out in traffic? Are you one of those idiots that get really peaved because the vehicle in front of you is driving the speed limit? Are you one of these idiots that change lanes without signaling? One moore thing and this should piss some people off....why is it the most agressive drivers seem to be in pickup trucks.
iamtc 1/27/2013 11:06:46 PM Report

jojoe71 I have noticed some people driving trucks are idots speeding cuting people off thinking they own the streets and lots of going thru red lights we need cameras at lights to get this fixed
Bad Dawg 1/27/2013 11:14:03 PM Report

SCRAPE YOUR WINDOWS IDIOTS!! Just stupidity or laziness.... take your pick.
Bad Dawg 1/27/2013 11:19:28 PM Report

I love my wifes truck and always make sure the windows are cleared whether she drives or me..... I find its more vans and suv's with snow on top (not in your windows but its on mine)..... rarely see us lifted Jeeps with snow/frost windows cause we always wave at each other.
Dead End Kid 1/28/2013 12:46:16 AM Report

Driver's licenses should be revoked for thirty days for offenses such as reckless driving, running red lights and excessive speeding. If caught driving during suspension, double the suspension plus a fine and points. It's the only way these idiots will understand.

Having a driver's license is a privilege not a god given right from birth.
hanscrapton 1/28/2013 7:16:33 AM Report

you should all get a life..AND MAYBE A JOB>>>REALLY>>>>
sweetnsexy69er 1/28/2013 8:35:49 AM Report

My biggest pet peeve is when people do improper turns..if you are making a left hand turn onto a 2 lane road..you have to stay in the lane closest to you so the person who is making a right hand turn can..I rarly see people making proper turns..have been ran off the road several times cus of this.. about a month ago a woman cut across into the far lane and cut me off.. when we were stopped at a red light she jumped out of her car started screaming at me a that I was in the wrong and that she had the right of way cus she had the arrow light to turn..told her yes you did but this is a 2 lane street you were turning onto so you had to stay in the closest lane to you..she kept screaming at me calling me the idiot and I should go back to driving school.....If people would just do proper lane changes and use there turn signals there might be less accidents
SandyB 1/28/2013 9:23:37 AM Report

ummm sweet..

You are both right.

She should have turned into the first lane (Highway traffic act, section 104 (6))

but

if she was turning on the left arrow (protected green) only she was alllowed to go right then. Protected green arrows are for left hand turners only.

(Green arrow (14) Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing one or more green arrow indications only or in combination with a circular red or circular amber indication and facing the indication may proceed only to follow the direction shown by the arrow."

You can't turn right on one.

Sorry :)

sweetnsexy69er 1/28/2013 9:30:17 AM Report

I am allowed to as long as I stay in the curb side lane..she has to stay in the lane closest to the middle then safely merg to the curb lane I know cus I was hit this way and the guy who cut across the lanes was the one charged for unsafe lane change..that happened right after I got my G2 lisence and that was also what was taught in the driving coarse I took thru our driving school and the guy who took me out to teach me was a retired police officer..so if you are correct I would like for you to go have a chat with those who taught me and go have a talk with the police who charged the guy who did hit me
sweetnsexy69er 1/28/2013 9:43:25 AM Report

Now if the person that has the arrow light to turn left and is going onto a 1 lane road then yes the person turning right has to yield to the other person...otherwise if it is a 2 lane.. both persons has the right to make there turn as long as they stay in there proper lane then merge over when it is safe to do so
SandyB 1/28/2013 9:44:03 AM Report

you are NOT allowed to turn right on a left green arrow no matter WHAT lane you turn into.

Good heavens!!!
SandyB 1/28/2013 9:48:01 AM Report

and sweet.. I AM a driving instructor and don't give a diddly damn if your instructor was a retired pilot of an Atlas 5 rocket ..
sweetnsexy69er 1/28/2013 10:16:32 AM Report

why not pull out your MTO Drivers handbook go to page 49..Turning a corner and read what it says...To turn a corner, signal well before the turn. When the way is clear move into the proper lane-either the far right lane for the right turn or the far left lane in your direction for a left turn.Signal your turn and look from side to side to make sure the way is clear ..Now turn To page 50 Right turn on a red light..Unless a sign tells you not to,you may turn right on a red light as long as you first come to a complete stop and wait untill the way is clear..now if the person is making a left hand turn if they stay in there proper lane the right hand turning persons way should be clear to go..now if I am wrong then again tell me WHY THE GUY WHO HIT ME WAS THE ONE WHO WAS CHARGED FOR IMPROPER TURN TURN AND UNSAFE LANE CHANGE
SandyB 1/28/2013 10:23:31 AM Report

Highway Traffic Act

Green arrow

(14) Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing one or more green arrow indications only or in combination with a circular red or circular amber indication and facing the indication may proceed ONLY TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTION SHOWN BY THE ARROW

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Have a wonderful day darlin..

'Nuff said :)
jojoe71 1/28/2013 4:53:08 PM Report

I think when your making a right hand turn when the opposite side has a green arrow for left turn....you'd better give them the right of way. Only because there are idiots out there who don't understand the rules so it's safer for you to wait and let the idiots have there way. Another idiotic move I see is people don't understand there is a turning lane to enter when you want to turn...some idiots wait in the driving lane to make that turn...JMHO...
