NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO LIBERAL LEADER
KATHLEEN WYNNE

***************************
Ontario Liberal Party Leader Kathleen Wynne will build on momentum of historic election

TORONTO - Incoming Premier Kathleen Wynne thanked her party on a historic convention and pledged to immediately get to work for the people of Ontario.

“This leadership race has been about ideas, renewal, and excitement,” said Wynne. “Now, as a party, we will take that vision, that momentum, and transform it into a brighter future.”

“I want to thank Dalton McGuinty for putting us on such a strong course,” said Wynne. “And recognize and thank all the incredible candidates and their supporters who worked so hard to reinvigorate the Ontario Liberal Party.”

Wynne pledged to draw on the renewed energy of the Ontario Liberal Party and immediately begin the process to reconvene the Legislature on February 19.

“The best way to build on our tremendous success is to keep governing, because Ontarians don’t want an election. They expect us to lead,” said Wynne.

"This weekend, Ontario Liberals came together to support the vision of a stronger, healthier, and fairer province,” concluded Wynne. “I’m excited to take these ideas and put them into action, for all of us.”

Her party can order workers back to work ASAP but can't order the house back to work for 3 Weeks, What a Leader!

Time for change!
ShawnM 1/28/2013 9:16:06 AM Report

BS... we want an election and we want it now. She is too scared to hold one because of the damage that has been done already. She knows they would probably loose if they have an election right now.
dogi 1/28/2013 9:17:28 AM Report

"Don't want an election", are you kidding me. Can't wait to kick your XXX
out of office....
pruden 1/28/2013 9:22:31 AM Report

All good comments - I too would like an election - these politicians are so like leaches, they just don't want to let go.
I was saying to my husband last night - I'm so ready for an election - I hate it when politicians start believing they know what we all want.....bloody gypsies.
Sam C 1/28/2013 9:25:01 AM Report

In all fairness, Joe B... there is preliminary work to be done before the Legislature reconvenes. If she recalled the Legislature today there would be no work to do -- all previous legislation before the Legislature was scrapped upon prorogation.

She also has to select a Cabinet, which likely means some shuffling and selecting some new Ministers, so everyone needs an opportunity to get up to speed on their new portfolios.

Our MPPs are currently in their ridings, which is also part of their job, so they ARE working.

However, to Kathleen Wynne... I have not come to expect the Liberals to "lead." That would be a pleasant change from what has been happening.

Hahahahaha...she wants to thank Dalton for putting Ontario on such a strong course.

Talk about the biggest B.S. line of the century.
I bet they don't want an election.
They fully know that all of their collective asses are going to be kicked the hell out.
RayDouglas 1/28/2013 9:38:29 AM Report

“The best way to build on our tremendous success is to keep governing, because Ontarians don’t want an election. They expect us to lead,” said Wynne……Speak for yourself Wynne. The economic damage the liberals under Mcguinty have inflicted on this province through waste and corruption is beyond any historical parameters. Mcguinty himself should be facing a court of law as his handling of the public purse has been criminal either by intent or complete incompetence. All parties in this country are nothing more than organized appetites for power but in my life time no provincial party has done more damage than the liberals.
sinikka 1/28/2013 9:45:47 AM Report

She was chosen because the liberals know that they will lose the next election badly. Why nominate a strong candidate when the mcguinty administration has alienated all ontario voters. She has been thrown to wolves for slaughter , not because she can win it's because she and her party cannot WYNNE.We will see who their real candidate to lead will be after the next election as she will be here today and gone tomorrow. This is the Liberal plan whether you can see it or not.
Mr Cloudy 1/28/2013 9:46:58 AM Report

Idle no more!
hrh 1/28/2013 9:52:24 AM Report

We don't WANT an election ?? I see she's delusional.
I'm In 1/28/2013 10:01:39 AM Report

Sam C give it a rest, the reasoning for poroguing parliement is the liberals couldn't work with the other parties which had a say because of a minority government in power wether you like it or not, the Liberals ruined this province and won't get in next election.
Mik 1/28/2013 10:29:40 AM Report

I have a pretty good understanding of politics, and I do my best not to bring it up on dates and family gatherings...

That being said, the alternatives to the Liberal gub'mint we have now aren't exactly shining beacons of responsibility. One overspends, the other will have free reign to do as it pleases, (Nationally, they've proven this, and recently I might add)

So, experts: Who's better than the devil you know? If an election were held tomorrow, who would you vote for, and why?

I'd vote Liberal, simply because I don't think they've done a HORRIBLE job provincially, and at least I know what to expect...

This is where you say:
The_claw 1/28/2013 10:31:04 AM Report

Seems to be Kathleen Wynne is being used as an escape goat. Much like Kim Campbell was when she was placed, not elected into office. Its to bad that is the only way these women get into office. They have no chance of success as they are left with such a mess from there successors on their way out the door. And yes, in ontario we still like to elect or officials. But an election is going to cost the tax payers more money and make them even less likely to want to vote her.
Mik 1/28/2013 10:32:06 AM Report

Addendum: Knowing how the election will LIKELY go, I'm hoping, (at best) a conservative minority.
!@# 1/28/2013 10:32:42 AM Report

IS EVERYONE ALRIGHT!! YOUDON'T GET IT!!IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS IN POWER!! THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!! ARE U FOOLISH WITH COMMENTS LIKE "TIME FOR CHANGE". WE HAVE HAD EVERY PARTY IN POWER!!! THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. PLEASE DO NOT BE SO FOOLISH TO THINK YOU WILL SEE SOME REAL CHANGE!! AS LONG AS HUMANS ARE INVOLVED THERE WILL BE A DISASTER IN POLITICS!! ALL WE CAN EVER HOPE FOR IS THE LEAST AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. I WILL TAKE WHAT WE'VE HAD FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS OVER WHAT CAME PRIOR (DO YOU EVEN REMEMBER!! I DO!!) COMMENT ON THAT!!
!@# 1/28/2013 10:35:25 AM Report

One more thing...really change will come and you believe it with conservative minority, maybe a conservative majority, maybe a liberal majority or maybe a liberal minority...hold on maybe a NDP majority will do it....no no I got it an NDP majority....how foolish you all sound...it doesn't matter!!
Ricatoni 1/28/2013 10:35:36 AM Report

liberals = money spending pigs who couldnt care less about the tax payers whos money they are pilfering on their own selfish greeds........the people of this province want and election now, so we can boot these useless liberals the hell out of politics and our province. These liberals have pretty much ruined our province taken us from a have province to a have not province. They put us billions of dollars in debt they allowed corruption to the highest level without any accountability. They were and are the worst thing that ever happened to this province. Dead End Kid 1/28/2013 11:12:02 AM Report

If she had a better hair style she might be all right.
Sam C 1/28/2013 12:02:37 PM Report

I'm in... thanks, but I don't need a rest.

I completely disagree with proroguing the legislature the way McGuinty did (and the way Harper did, for that matter). But now that it is prorogued, Wynne cannot just snap her fingers and have everybody "back to work" tomorrow, as I mentioned above.

And, the business of government continues, prorogued or not. The difference is that the Opposition gets NO input, other than to bleat into the microphones at a press conference.

As I mentioned, the MPPs -- government and opposition -- also have work to do in their ridings, which is what's happening now.
Ricatoni 1/28/2013 12:49:16 PM Report

its to bad we cant see what it is they are doing ehh sam c...well other than wasting our money.useless politicians doing what they do best nothing LOL.........
Polis 1/28/2013 3:58:55 PM Report

I agree, Sam C! Establishing priorities in the mess that she has inherited will be difficult enough, never mind selecting a Cabinet, writing a Throne Speech and repairing relationships with Unions etc. I think Feb 19 is a pretty ambitious target, but I am willing to wait and see(She doesn't have a magic wand like McGuinty thought he had)
Rocky44 1/29/2013 7:48:05 AM Report

We do need an election, and soon. Nobody should be able to be appointed to power without an election. The election won't fix anything here, we keep electing the same less than honest guy everytime anyway.
