Are these some of the good paying jobs that the EDC is bringing to the soo breakfast cooks, janitors, LOL what a joke.....welfare pays more and mothers allowance triple that .so why would any one take these jobs ????they can sit at home and collect free money cheap rent and not even leave the house that is all paid for by the public.........sorry cant see any one on welfare or mothers allowance getting up and going to look for a job....why would they???????????
Ricatoni 1/21/2013 7:41:28 PM Report

Wow, somebody needs to stop taking those negativity pills
GrammaDingbat54 1/21/2013 8:37:19 PM Report

Gee, Ricatoni, ever hear the word "pride"??
moem 1/21/2013 8:46:10 PM Report

Ricatoni

Do you actually know what welfare pays???
ThinkAgain 1/21/2013 9:35:21 PM Report

"weekly job fairs every Thursday."

Seems a little much considering not much work in town.

Seems like someone seeks new provincial funding. Waste of money if you ask this taxpayer.
Sam C 1/21/2013 9:59:00 PM Report

ThinkAgain... there is a difference between "not much jobs" and "no jobs."
Sam C 1/21/2013 10:06:46 PM Report

...and (Ricatoni, you too) is you'd actually checked their job listings, you'll see that there are many minimum-wage jobs, but there are also jobs paying $12.50 to $24.00 per hour, as well as jobs paying $60-70,000 /year.
Algomasteammaker 1/21/2013 11:45:15 PM Report

Not happy with your station in life?? Need a better job?? Do something about it folks!!! If you have to go back to school or leave town to get to where you wanna be in life...get too it!!
Stevie-E 1/22/2013 9:30:26 AM Report

Algomasteammaker took the words out of my mouth. It's funny, I have never been turned down for a job in this fine city we live in. It's called hard work and many people out there don't care and will float through life on social assistance. Not me.

Go back to school for a new job or create one for yourself. I had to do both! Jobs are not going to just appear. Some jobs are even becoming extinct; so we are faced with the age-old dilemma: adapt or die!

Pride is another great point I saw. I would rather take less pay and gain experience in the workforce than suck the life out our tax dollars. Hey, you have to start somewhere and if you have great work ethic and work hard and become engaged in even the most menial jobs, you will be noticed and move up or be transferred into a less menial job.

My father did everything when he came to the Soo. Instead of being laid off from a great position at the plant, he cleaned bathrooms there and did whatever it took to stay employed. He was soon back into a position and even received a promotion. We need more like him and I am glad I was told that story.

It's the people that (read: ABUSE) the system that are making this city AND country fall behind. Where do you get off having this sense of entitlement while I am working 60+ hours a week and paying both income and business taxes? Get a life people!

I have had enough of hearing big mouths bragging that they are going on "pogey" and am looking forward to having a nice vacation! There should be stiffer controls in place to weed out these people.

Darwin's Theory is not just for things lower on the food chain.

RichyRich 1/22/2013 11:27:07 AM Report

Don't piss them off Algomasteammaker and Stevie-E, they might protest.
