HSCDSB and CUPE Local 4148 ratify agreement

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4148 have approved a new collective agreement (CA).

HSCDSB Trustees ratified the agreement through an electronic poll on January 9, 2013.

Members of CUPE Local 4148 approved the deal last week in two separate votes.

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with our Plant Department and clerical employees and our early childhood educators and educational assistants. Negotiations were respectful and both parties kept the needs of our school communities front and centre,” said HSCDSB Chair Lindsay Liske.

“Our members have supported the recommendation of our negotiating committee and we are happy to have a new agreement in place,” said Local 4148 President Vicky Evans.

The new agreement takes effect immediately and is retroactive to September 1, 2012.
