SAH celebrates Accreditation with Commendation!
(January 15, 2013) – Today, Sault Area Hospital (SAH) held a celebration for staff, physicians and volunteers, recognizing its upgraded accreditation status.
Last April, four surveyors from Accreditation Canada were on site for three-and-a-half days reviewing SAH and comparing practices to national quality standards.
Shortly thereafter, SAH was advised that it had been granted “Accredited” status.
Since April, SAH has worked hard on addressing a number of the standards that remained outstanding from the April visit.
As a result, SAH is pleased to report that the hospital’s status has been upgraded to “Accredited with Commendation” after having successfully met 98.2 percent of 2243 applicable national standards.
In 2011, only 25 percent of almost 1,000 surveyed organizations in Canada achieved this status.
SAH recognizes the numerous individuals at all levels of the organization who worked tirelessly to improve even further upon the initial results.
This recognition from Accreditation Canada clearly demonstrates the remarkable people at SAH and their commitment to patients and the community.
