mmm... Squid (19 photos)

Way back in 2000 when the East Coast energetic drum corps pictured above was originally formed, it was almost named Calamari.
Apparently the founding members ate a lot of the stuff.
Seeing as the lads are from Halifax, Nova Scotia, we suppose that makes sense.
However, the boys thought better of the name, opting instead to call themselves Squid.
And Squid they've been for the past 13 years as the troupe traveled to festivals, competitions, and events across North America capturing hearts and awards as they went.
Squid stopped in Sault Ste. Marie this past weekend for a sold out performance during the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie's Over the Rainbow Children's Entertainment Series at the Grand Theatre.
As enthralling for children as it was for adults, we suspect the Sault will see a slew of new drum students popping up at local music schools in the coming months.
Squid continues its Northern Ontario tour in the coming week with stops in Cobalt, New Liskard, Kirkland Lake, and North Bay, among others.
