It doesn't sound like these two are starting off parenthood on a good note.

It's not easy being alone with a baby, especially a teenage mom, but slugging the father is unacceptable.

As for the father being out at the bars, getting out with the boys once in a while is ok, but she also needs a break once in a while too. A little counselling would be a good idea if they are planning to stay together as a family.

I just hope that their baby doesn't get abused by the mother or father. I don't want to read about it later.
the coach 1/12/2013 7:08:25 AM Report

Should of given her a pat on the back.

Aww to be young and in love
B Boy 1/12/2013 9:07:26 AM Report

Yes, he was irresponsible and foolish, but are you people actually advocation and encouraging domestic violence?

So if my wife does the same thing, then I can just go ahead and punch her in the face then. Sounds like a great idea, that logic should stop violence against women and other forms of domestic violence.
JerryLundegard 1/12/2013 9:12:36 AM Report

Just a little of the old, in and out!
jojoe71 1/12/2013 9:21:43 AM Report

I can't believe he actually called the cops. Wahhh!!!! my girlfriend just hit me ....ya gotta arrest her. You think the police don't have better things to do? And I wonder who was minding the baby? Get a life kids.
panda26 1/12/2013 9:40:14 AM Report

what i would like to know is if she was waiting outside the bar to confront him who was watching this 4 week old baby at the time!!!
sweetc 1/12/2013 9:44:14 AM Report

I can't believe what people are saying. If this was a guy that hit his girlfriend... it would be lock him up forever, give him a little taste of it behind the barn.... He is nothing but scuz.... but when the girl hits the guy? Its good for her... can't believe she called the cops etc etc.....

What is the difference? I don't see it and I am glad he called the cops. She needs some anger management. It doesn't matter what the reason that she hit him (unless it was self defence), which it does not sound like it is she shouldn't be hitting either.

Can one of you rational people explain the difference to me???
panda26 1/12/2013 9:52:08 AM Report

oh i absolutely agree the female deserved the charge woman are always fighting for equal rights....well here is a good example of just that...in my opinion she's no better if she's out looking for a fight with a 4 week old newborn at home and like i said who was watching this baby while she was out looking for a fight???
B Boy 1/12/2013 9:53:03 AM Report

Let's throw another log on the fire...

Why does the article give the reason she hit him?
Do all the other articles do so for domestic violence?
http://www.sootoday.com/content/news/details.asp?c=49470
Did he break down the door because she was in bed with another man?

Wobbler 1/12/2013 10:22:22 AM Report

Why do the police even send a report to the papers about domestic violence? Names can't be published and all it does is promote rude off the wall comments on pages like this!!!
AndyCap 1/12/2013 11:13:57 AM Report

The only difference between a woman hitting a man and a man hitting a woman is that one is funny and the other one is not
Studlee 1/12/2013 11:14:24 AM Report

It's stories like these that remind me of how grateful I am for being raised by responsible and intelligent parents.
Rachel01 1/12/2013 11:18:13 AM Report

Personally I think they both need a slap. That poor baby having to grow up with such immature parents. Makes me cringe when I see these young kids with babies or pregnant downtown.
Entity 1/12/2013 11:26:50 AM Report

I see the dirtbag demographic is still breeding. That's a shame.

Violence against males. Misandry 101.

AndyCap: I fail to see the humour in either.
graphix-guy 1/12/2013 12:54:57 PM Report

C'mon dude...you're supposed to ask for permission to take your balls out of her purse! You don't just take them out without her knowing! Don't you know the rules? Haha Another classic case of a young lady not getting her way and causing a scene. The guys allowed to go out, the girls allowed to go out and sometimes you get to go out together! As long as the child is being looked after socializing is still a part if life! It takes two to tango! What a waste of tax-payers money to process an investigation over something so ridiculous! Grow up!
Ricatoni 1/12/2013 12:58:04 PM Report

NICE!!!!!!! woman assaults man is this acceptable in our society today it would seem it is.......????
anapeg 1/12/2013 1:03:20 PM Report

The Coach and Laser; would your response have been similar had the roles been reversed and if not, why not? I take it in your mind it is all about equal rights. If a left doesn't do it give them an equal right.
Bad Dawg 1/12/2013 1:20:30 PM Report

You people are such hypocrites. How can someone say "he needs a slap".... then you'll need a slap for hitting him. And yeah he called the cops GOOD FOR HIM!! he has a right to be safe, and care for his child. Maybe it was his turn to go out and she couldn't control herself.

I was happy to stop going to bars after my wife blessed me. She was not, I enjoyed fishing, hunting outdoor stuff with buddies and we always worked it out. And not once has my wife ever slugged me.... her family would not be there when she woke. simple as that

She sounds like a real winner..... hey buddy get your kid and get a lawyer, she will hit you again.... wife beater AND husband beaters are pieces of crap!! They will never change and every time they say they will never do it again.... they lie!!
graphix-guy 1/12/2013 1:24:07 PM Report

Also, call me old-fashioned or maybe just not a "pussy." If a woman hits you and you call the police then you need to turn in your "man card" IMMEDIATELY!
Bad Dawg 1/12/2013 1:43:52 PM Report

I would only call to ensure HER safety and for them to make her go somewhere else.

There is no way am I going to hurt my wife.... just simple to not let it escalate to that. After all she is your wife..... maybe my wife is smart enough not to even try cause she has seen me put someone down and made him sqeal/cry..... she couldn't get over the wrinkles in the skin of where his shoullder was. But I like to think its because she loves me.
graphix-guy 1/12/2013 2:30:34 PM Report

I agree with Andy Capp completely!
cashcab 1/12/2013 2:52:46 PM Report

LOL.. As usual, the comments are more entertianing than the news story and I use the words "news story" very loosely.
As a side note, there is no excuse for domestic violence by anyone, male or female, period.
Tom_Bom 1/12/2013 3:30:18 PM Report

Its funny how a woman hitting a man is socially acceptable in comparison to the other way around. Why can't both scenarios be wrong?
scottstewy123 1/12/2013 4:29:59 PM Report

I too am shocked at some of the responses on here. The very same that belittles the man for going to the police would be the very same that would condemn a man for hitting a woman. A woman assaulting a man is as much wrong as a man hitting woman. Obviously in this family something is terribly wrong. And a baby is in the middle of it. That girl should have stayed away especially if he was at the bar. But again we here on sootoday can play arm chair social workers, lawyers and judges. We do not know what the circumstances are. How ever I have to commend the man for not handling it himself and have her charged. I am sure it took a lot of restraint to not strike back.
scottstewy123 1/12/2013 4:31:08 PM Report

Maybe that man should have custody. When we see her out of control HMMMMM
kamen 1/13/2013 3:21:32 AM Report

Oh grow up this kind of thing happens all the time, the guy goes out drinking and the mother stays home with the baby, you know what the real answer here is? SHOULD HAVE USED A CONDOM. That's what, they are immature, and need to face up to the fact that they are both parents now, if you can't do that then put the damn baby up for adoption so it can lead the life that it deserves. I do not condone violence, I dont care if the father was out having one beer or 6, a four week old needs to bond with thier daddy and the woman should not have punched the man in the face, that type of behaviour will lead to bad influences on the child, neither should have done what they did, both did wrong and it is over and done with, none of us know the entire story so leave it at that.
